Got dropped off at the dealership to bring home my 2018 AWD gt2. So signed papers, got on the road and I am in love! Got a 100 mile drive back to my house. So I'm living the dream jamming with this awesome system just cruising at 80 mph. About 50 miles into my drive I completely lose all acceleration power. I thought the smart cruise control was malfunctioning, cancel it, try to accelerate, but no response. I'm just coasting now. Realizing I'm in trouble I pull off hazards on etc. Shut it down. Sit for a second. Try to start back up and just constanct chugging catches a little fuel, then doesn't fire off. Tried this a couple times to no avail. Any idea on what happened?? Dealer got me taken care of and all that but still very sad I couldn't enjoy the new "family car".

sounds like really shit fuel or spark plugs are f&*%ed
Yeah hopefully it's not a serious issue, all covered warranty wise so nothing out of my pocket but I don't want to wait another month to get back to get to driving it, because it was such a short experience.

Wow that sucks. That's a really bad case of blue balls. Good thing the dealer will take care of it. Hopefully they do it fast and right.

That's real bad luck. Hope they get it fixed fast and you get your Stinger back soon. How much mileage has it done or was it still new.

It had 40k on it so it's been around. Just a crazy experience and like General_Vodka said real case of blue balls haha. I'll find out today what it was hopefully. I'm just glad it happened the day that I bought it because I got a lot of help. I'd be in a bad situation if it was 6 months down the road and this happened. And of all the loaners they brought me...a Ford escape...lol

Please let us know what the dealer says the problem was. :)

Previous owner may have caused damage and then dumped it before facing a hefty non-warrantied repair bill. Did you test drive it up to the same speed prior to purchase?

My guess: new coils/plugs. We placing bets?

A bad coil would run like crap but should still start. Multiple coild seems unlikely.

My bet's on something in the ignition system, either MAP or crank position sensor?

Is your car new? if it was used who know how the car was drive by the previous owner, what did the dealer say? Did you remember to see if the fuel tank has gas?

Alright update time and I know the gas thing you joke about but I got more fun info on that...so they told me that the fuel gauge wasn't working and I ran out of fuel...and that they put some gas in it and drove it around and all was good. So okay maybe i'm an idiot maybe the dealer I bought it from wasn't paying attention whatever I get to drive my sweet ride around. So I pick it up and going to go put some fuel in it. I have a quarter tank at this point. I start driving and I see the check engine light turn on then off within a couple seconds. Thinking maybe it's clearing codes from getting an inspection. Then I'm at a stoplight check engine light pops on again and the car just start violently shaking. Accelerating becomes almost impossible but I'm not far from the dealership and I'm on the busiest street in town so I'm begging this thing to get me that far. Still shaking no acceleration, and I notice I'm at an 1/8th of a tank all of a sudden opposed to the quarter I had (I have maybe driven 2 miles at this point didn't get over 55 MPH). So I limp it back to the dealership, leave it running and tell them to come look and luckily it was still shaking something horrible so it wasn't just my word. So they took it back in and I guess I'll find out more in the morning.

I would simply return that car. You would be crazy to keep it. The previous owner must have damaged it with modifications or something like that.

Quite possible. Seems like something went wrong and the previous owner dumped it and got by inspections on it. Just crazy to me this is happening. I'm getting a stinger gt2 at the end of the day freaking love the cars just maybe I got the short end of the stick on this one. I'm going to have to look at my sales contract and do some research if it comes down to that. I mean I have manufacturer warranty remaining plus the extended warranty (which I've seen work out on my dad who got a whole new engine on his 911 with it) so maybe I'll luck out and have a new engine put in haha. Idk just a shitty deal all around I guess I'll see how it plays out in the coming days.

I would definitely check and see if they have some sort of grace period where if you don't want the car you can return it.

No the gas thing was not a joke. :D

Wow. Hope the kinks get worked out. If not, you should be able to get a different one if this one can't be fixed. Almost 42,000 miles on mine and no problems yet. I've had it since it had 32 miles on it.

Oh I know it probably has happened on several occasions. I just thought it was funny because that's what the service center told me then you said that lol.
