Just comparing my recently rear-ended Stinger to anyone that has one still pristine and never damaged, to see if this is stuff you've seen on your Stinger, or if I truly have post-damage issues:

Black GUNK coming out of my exhaust--especially worse on one side. The exhaust of this car was replaced, and I want to see if this is really normal for anyone who has an undamaged Stinger. I've had this car since February, and in the cold weather, and I don't remember it ever spitting out GUNK. Some black carbon film on the chrome yes, but I don't remember gunk. Maybe it's just because it's been sitting for 2 months??

The backup camera at night, I seem to remember the display view on the screen looking light as daytime even at night. Mine is pretty dark now, don't know if I'm just remembering it wrong...

Definitely not normal. How much of the exhaust was replaced? As for your backup camera, have you tried turning up the brightness?

Ha ha that would make sense, I didn’t even check if there was a setting for that on the camera.

I have yet to find this setting. Even if I turn the Dash brightness up (though the brightness buttons on the left side, behind the steering wheel), it doesn't affect the center screen. The center screen seems directly affected by the daylight sensor that's integrated on top of the windshield. If there's snow on it... BAM, I hope you have good eyes to guess what's behind you through that screen because it's pitch black.

The view screen has a day or night setting and brightness control.

The gunk is most likely excess moisture that should burn off with a bit more use.

The gunk on the exhaust is normal. Since the car was parked for a long time, humidity tends to accumulate inside the exhaust and when the car is first started and warmed up, the water condensates, mixes with any carbon build up inside the exhaust pipes and shoots out of the exhaust and comes out in that soot/junk form. This condition is accentuated in colder weather.

I said this over on your other thread: My precious got rear ended....

I will add that driving last night I hit the kickdown switch for a good five seconds or more. So, I think the "gunk" is a reaction to that. But, the main thing is it cleaned right off, ergo, is not oil based; but rather moisture related as @ShannonC suggested. As long as your engine is running strong and with no issues I wouldn't worry about this "gunk". I saw a performance car the other day with twin exhausts, and out of both of them were coming actual moisture DROPS, very visible as it went around a corner in front of me. I keep my exhaust stubs wiped out for this very reason: if I don't, I rapidly get a buildup of dark crud in them. This has always been the case.

Normal, easy to remove with exhaust cleaning I use Turtle wax chrome polish its stupid easy wipe on and wife off. Trust me its normal, unless there is black smoke coming from your exhaust. My R8 tips are black all the time as well.

Just the right muffler was replaced, but it's the left side that has more gunk coming out of it. I'm thinking it's just excess carbon buildup from it sitting for 2 months, combined with the cold weather causing moisture. I just don't remember it doing this since I bought it in February, but who knows. As far as the camera, I have a 2018 US Stinger, so I don't have the fancy surround view monitor system and there is no brightness setting. Just a plain reverse backup camera. So I've been driving a Hyundai Sonata for the last 2 months while this was in the shop, and having trouble remembering the quirks of my Stinger. Just knowing that the Sonata had a really nice camera that made nighttime look like daylight, I would have assumed my Stinger would have as nice of a camera, but maybe that's how it always has been. Night looks like night, and day looks like day.

Can't remember but got the largest wattage that would physically fit my problem is not what they look like but how they perform i reverse down a driveway about a 30° gradient and ..the reverse lights dont overpower the brake lights ive connected large floodlights to my auto garage doors to help but flood lights that fit neatly onto the vehivle would be more useful thanks for the reply

Well a 30 degree driveway will contribute to your issue as the light beam would project straight ahead therefore creating the problem of not enough vision for you ate night.

Our reverse camera is pretty horrible in low light.

I'm currently looking at some "STEDI" light bars that will fit into the hollow in the bumper between the exhausts havent decided if i want 2 10w ones or 2 20w ones but will post the result once i've fitted them.
