A/C not very cold!

I had my A/C system looked at after it was blowing warm, dealer said there was no leaks and charged me $630 CAD for a recharge.
I used the system for 1 summer and it failed how is that something i should be paying for?
how is it that a basically new car needs a recharge?

How/why indeed. That's :poop: Ask them what was outside the warranty on what they did? Call Kia Corp. if you get a crap answer.

Mine will freeze your ass off. In fact, I was just commenting the other day (when it was 97 degrees and humid) that this might be the best AC I've had in a car.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Mines not that cold either, especially compared to my BMW. The "auto" system on the Stinger is also not as smart as what the Germans had 10 years ago.

You shouldnt have to turn the temperature all the way to the "LOW" setting to get cold air out of your AC.
If your ambient temp inside the cabin is higher than what the system is set to, it should cool it rapidly as long as the temperature is set below the ambient temp.
Thats how it is supposed to work anyway. You set your climate to the desired temp and it just works. You dont set it to LOW until it gets to the ambient temp you want. Thats not how modern Climate Control systems work.

That's how mine works. We had some monster humidity here the past few days, didn't touch the controls, it just worked as it should (set at 72ºF).

I know that Kia says the optimal setting for Auto is 73 degrees. And I leave it there until the A/C in our house starts to kick on. We have it set at 79F, so, that's what I put my car's A/C at too. When A/C "season" is over in the house, I warm the car up only to 73.

It was well into the upper 90s here the other day, and I was remarking at how incredibly good the A/C in this car is. I left the car running for about 20 minutes out in the baking hot Texas sun while stopping by my buddy's airport hangar and when I got back in, I felt like I was sitting in a walk-in freezer.

The only other one I've felt this good was my buddy's old P71 Vic. That thing would freeze you right out the car, and this one isn't far behind. In fact, this is the first auto-HVAC (of many..) I've had that just works the way you'd expect it to. It gets ice cold when you need it (e.g. getting into a hot-ass car in 100 degree weather) and then slowly adjusts the temperature to meet whatever you set it at. EVERY other auto climate control I've had, I just override it by setting it to the lowest temp, full blast, recirc.

I believe I read somewhere that if you open a window, the A/C automatically turns off recirculation and turns it on if you close the windows. There are so many things the computers in it have access to and with their weird choices and dependencies, it is easy to get in a fight with it.

Can confirm that this car is no slouch in the cabin cooling department. Your system sounds like it's got a problem.
