I’ve had my car for a year has 54k miles and in the last couple of months it’s been blowing the blower motor relay. I’ve replaced it and it’s back to working as usual but this last time I tried changing it, it would not even start blowing. I’m not sure what to do next, my blower motor is not stuck I can spin it freely with my hand so maybe electrical? But where would I start?

Time replace it. Sounds like there is a short in the motor windings and that is why its

blowing the relay. Just my opinion, as I have seen this before in blower motors on heaters

and A/C setups. Blower motors will often spin freely when the windings are shorting causing

it to not work properly. Or, it could be a bad ground? You could check it with a volt meter.

I found an oem blower motor for $40 on eBay so I’m gonna go ahead and pray that was the answer lol. Thanks for your reply!

A relay is simply a magnetically operated set of contacts. A switch. It is not the cause it is a symptom of another problem.

You need to find what is drawing an excessive amount of current if indeed it is the contacts of the relay that are burning out.

Look for a cooked fan resistor and the blower fan itself.

Gonna replace the blower motor see if that fixes the issue, it’s a simple fix from I can tell if I have any more issues I’ll come back but thanks for the tip!
