5 things I hate about my Stinger GT

Its there. I just thought it would be able to detect rain intensity and adjust speed of wipers more on its own.
if it's like bmw's rain sensing wipers, the rotary switch adjusts the sensitivity of the rain sensing wipers, not change the speed itself of the intermittent wipers... that's the one of the things i do miss not getting on the gt trim vs higher trim.

I have not tweaked our rain sensing wipers, so far they have preformed great.

Coming up on 23k miles and 1 1/2 years of ownership.
My top 5 things I hate would be
1)Interior quality control in regards to rattles/ticks/noises. Took me awhile but I’ve fixed all my noises which included the door frames, sunroof, behind the horn/airbag, armrest and trunk.
2)Stock (US) Gt brake pads are garbage. I’ve rebedded them a few times now to eliminate pulsating, going with aftermarket pads when the stock ones are toast.
3)No standard remote start which imo should have been standard on all of trims.
4)Electric power liftgate/trunk, I have a ‘19 GT1 trim and the GT2 feature I’m most envious of is the powered trunk. (I wouldn’t mind the 360 surround view camera )
5)Hood vents, would rather them be functional or not have them at all.

The vents don’t bother me. I seen fake stuff on bikes. Trucks. And cars. I do agree auto start should of been standard. But I think being unable to lock the car while running outside the car was a feature they didn’t want to mess with.

They don’t bother me all the much either, just seems to be the one thing that everyone nitpicks about the Stinger. I feel like it would make the front end a little less “busy” with a clean, no vent hood though.

It’s like the tail light trim. It separates the car from the main stream sedan without addressing the interior amenities that we all admire.

2019 Gt2 awd owner here. I love this car, but with anything there are nags to reach perfection. Here are mine:

  • Stock brake pads are prone to deposits causing pulsing and vibrations, just adding my complaint to the looooong list.
  • GT2 trim loses manual lockout mode on the shifter - gt and gt1 you just shift the gear lever to the side while in drive. Regardless, you should be able to select whether or not the car goes back into auto and in what conditions for each drive mode. Its really really dumb to have to be in sport with traction and stability modes off to be fully manual (not shift at redline) and yet still have it go back to drive at a stop.
  • Rear sear hvac is old school manually controlled, my dang kids like spinning the wheel with their toes but then complaining about the temperature.
  • Window buttons could use a tap to crack feature where you can just open a half inch with a little tap instead of trying to time your press without engaging auto down. Ill waste up to a minute on a hot day in a sketchy parking lot trying to get that gap right. My wife's 10 year old mazda does this.
  • Sunroof can't be cracked with the visor also just cracked, my 12 year old subaru outback could though.
  • Need to be able to lock in drive any drive mode and auto stop start setting between starts
  • Location of lane keep assist button and auto hold should be swapped. Having LCA by my knee when I press it more frequently and auto hold by the gear shifter when its never pressed is silly
  • Underbody protection is laughable in snow or even just a dirt road. My undertray is absurdly scraped and bent up from the previous owner backing up in a few inches of snow. It acted like a snow shovel and about ripped off.
  • On this note: Should be an option for an "active/family" trim with roof rack, hitch receiver, integrated rubber weather mats on rear seatbacks and more durable fake leather seats. Maybe also some integrated body protection as well. And some software integration to adjust AWD system to different surfaces. All the grown up former WRX drivers would go for this.
  • Cell phone tray is too small for most modern phones.
  • Armrest is a piece of junk and horribly overcomplcated to replace unless you don't mind using a dremel and leaving off a few screws.
  • The end for now.
Again, all just nags, I obviously bought the car and love it. Just think these are simple fixes that probably would make a bigger impact on owners than introducing quilted materials and a slightly larger screen.

If kia would track and report what cars their buyers previously owned and also considered I'd think they'd find that many are actually folks coming from subarus and/or were considering a cuv or something and the stingers awd and hatch back got them to go for a sportier ride. The car should at least have a trim and features to further broaden this post-crossover appeal where an owner can have fun AND not look like a soccer mom just to get those outdoor friendly features and durability.

The only thing I dislike so far is the cell phone charger, no way mine will fit in that slot.

My only dislikes aside from the squeaks and rattles are:

1 - Rear window switches aren’t auto up/down
2 - Climate control relies on the screen
3 - Soft paint, very prone to rock chips
4 - No song name displayed in the cluster

Tiptronic always going back to drive is the thing I hate most for sure especially when you couldve paid less and got one that would
While the shifter is in drive pull it to the left this should allow you to use the shifter to shift and it will also keep your gears without switching back to drive

You have a GT and I have a GT1; the GT2 (or Limited) has "shift by wire" and does not have a manual gate.

When i pull into my drive way, the stop/start engages, but when i push park the engine starts again? Why? Makes no sense.

5. THAT is one thing I really dislike about ISG. Why does the car need to *start* when it is in Park? No reason. Most of the time, if one is driving and then puts the car in Park, the intent (not always, but most of the time) is to stop and get out. It would make much more sense to me to start the car (if needed) when it is put back into Drive. Not Park.
4. 3 Drive modes that feel about the same to me (eco, smart, comfort) plus one custom and Sport. Sport is more aggressive than I want to drive most of the time, and the others are waaaaayy too lazy. Lazy shifting, and really poor throttle response. I've been driving manual transmissions for 40 years and one of the reasons is because I can't stand having an automatic that won't shift when I want it to - I know, there is a manual mode, but the whole point of an automatic I think should be that it shifts AUTOMATICALLY. And *should* shift when I want it to. Which leads me to #3
3. No option for a manual transmission. Why not? I understand there is not a big market for manual transmissions especially in the USA, but there IS a market. If KIA doesn't want to lose money on it - charge for it! Instead of charging an extra $1000 to $1500 for an automatic, charge it for the manual! Some of us would pay for it.
2. Piped in fake engine noise. I'm sorry, but if I want to hear more engine noise, I'll roll down my damn window.
1. UVO. Just call it Useless. Or better yet, get rid of it. IT DOES NOTHING (at least in my 2018 GT2). My wife's Chevy Cruze has a built-in wifi hotspot ferchrissakes (and GM makes a killing off of subscription fees) and has remote start and my phone knows where the car is at all times. My Stinger (which was literally twice the cost of the Cruze) has UVO. Thanks Kia.

Not being able to lock the car while warming up...(it's a winter thing)....

Install a block heater. That's what I'll be doing.

Huh?
I just had the dealer install the factory remote start on my car. You have to press the lock button 1st before you can start it. Do the doors not stay locked after that?Cuz that would be extremely dumb if that's the case. My 07 Grand Prix that had factory remote start would stay locked while the remote start was running.

I just hit 1000k on my car. It's been awesome but I like everybody else has some nitpicks as well. While most people complain about the fake vents, they don't bother me much at all, sure, a heat extractor type vent would be much better but I don't mind. But what gets me is the dumb tail light panel. It does absolutely nothing. I really like that the lights are separate, it makes the car unique, not many cars I can think of that have that design, but the piece in the middle, is pointless. Another thing, how bout making the mirrors so they tilt down while reversing? Would be much easier to park the car.

magnetic , dipstick or interhose??

My side mirrors tilt on my GT Limited when I reverse.
