4½ Month Wait But It's Here

What a wait but worth it in the end. Took delivery few days ago and impressed from the start. A 230km drive back from the dealer gave a good sense of it's worth. Next, study the manual, set it up for us and away we go. Here are some photos of White Lightning -



Its a full down under GT just with the sunroof deleted by choice and it's loaded.

This is it compared with our other car Darth Volvo the flying Polestar Limited Edition. Both have the same straight line performance but the racing pedigree of the Volvo has it out handling and out braking -



In summary Kia have done a fantastic amazing job straight off and there is nothing I dislike about the car. It's a flying executive transport and comfortable. Now Mrs ibmaxx and myself can choose from two of the best cars on the road.

I can't say which is the better car. The performance of each is so close as to be undetectable. The Polestar scores with the Öhlins shocks the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires the carbon fibre damper bar and full stainless steel active exhaust and race type springs and 6 piston Brembos. The Stinger scores with much better equipment level, blissful silence ( I love it ), extreme comfort, liftback no trunk, those adjusting seats on exit/entry and great wheels. Since I can't pick the best car I am lucky enough to have both.

No there is only one GT in NZ fully equipped and with a sunroof but as I did not want it I placed a special order for a build without it. I have bitter experience with sun roofs and although I got no rebate still refused to have it at all and in fact it would have been a deal killer.

Did not know you could do that. I wonder if they can do any other special build stuff like the led mood lighting in cabin?

Thing is my special build was by way of a deletion on which they saved money so it was a no brainer for them but to add something could be a different story. I would assume unless it is standard equipment on some model and causes them no aggro to do it, well they just probably won't.

By the time you get your vehicle because of the stuff up the moody lights may be standard?

Haha very funny... I like bright and shiny things and the changing colour led in dash and doors caught my eye. It’s BS that we don’t get them just like you guys don’t get the camera.

I also agree it seems so petty to leave it out of AU models, but thankfully it has 360 camera, once you get yours you will agree

Not only that Oz and NZ both get the dynamically tuned suspension and steering from Graham Gambold and his team. They went to Korea to optimise the Australasian model and did well - best handling and steering Stinger in the world. Go Aussies!
