Ok the backing board which goes over the spare has a short piece if synthetic rope like boot lace thickness, attached . On the other end of the rope is a plastic hook. You oull up the cover then the hook goes into the hydraulic strut which lifts the hatch so its a plastic hook with abiut 6-10” of rooe attached.
Its very hard to explain any simpler thats why i said go look at another hatchback as they all seem to have it.

The problem I'm having is that the 2018 and 2019 GT2s I have experience with already have this. Are there versions of this car that don't come with this, is this for replacing one if it breaks, or are you thinking about a change to the ones that already exist?

I'm assuming he means something that attaches the 'floor' of the trunk to the strut. Basically like the one that connects the hatch lid to the trunk, but it hooks up to the floor/spare tire cover.

Its a new thing for the Stinger. The cover in the back is attached to strings when the trunk lid goes up so does the lid. I want to be able to hold up the floor cover so i can get to the spare underneath without having to hold the cover up at the same time. The rope attches to one side of the floor the hook can go over the strut to hold it up. Closest pic I can find shows the rope holding up the floor.

Pfft, just hold it up with your head!

JK, that would actually be useful. I hate messing around with the under-trunk area because holding up that piece of carpet is a PITA.

Though I'm not sure you'd need a specific part. A bungee cable would do the trick just fine, haha.

I dont have this type of system to hold up the trunk floor to access the tyre.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

Yes i could do that but as soon as you try to yank the tyre out the floor falls down on your hands impeding the tyres removal. Come on guys help me out here! Some one must have seen this arrangement on another car and can post a photo.

Yep, not at all what I was thinking :D

So you just want to have it available to use and not have it attached all the time, right? So I'd probably want to make it so that it can be stored in the extra space in the foam covering the spare. I can look in to it and see what I can come up with.

Yes yes yes!. It can be attached to trunk floor but tucked away. Attach it to lid on one side, left or right that is and to the bottom of lid so its concealed when floor lid is down.

I just printed a modified version of this file: Smartphone magnetic car vent mount and stuck a magnetic mount on it. It now goes in my center vent under the screen and works great. The mount goes in the bottom half of the vent as the weight pulls it down slightly but the mount stops the movement. It is easily removable but the phone goes on and off the magnet no problem.
