Eyeballing it, I'm not seeing the difference. Are couplers so precise that a 0.8mm variance is the difference between success and failure?

I have used a 1⅞ ball in a 2" coupler.
It works

Need to fully tighten the 2" coupler for it to work.

The 50mm will work in a 2" American style coupler

1⅞“ is 47.6mm

No. It does not have that part. It's a plain 2" coupler.
You sure about that? Aren't they all adjustable? How was it manufactured without the adjustment nut.

I suspect there is an adjustment nut under there
