After I stop at stop sign and either turning left or right, I hear a couple thud sounds from the rear, and it mostly happens the first mile or two. is this thud sound from the ECS making adjustment or from rear slip differential?

Update: Since the GT2 AWD uses an electronic, brake-based torque vectoring system, it can produce occasional clunks or thuds when active, especially in low-speed tight turns or during quick starts.

MY '18 GT1 AWD does not clunk or thud. It also does not have LSD but does have ECS. My friend's '23 Tribute AWD has a soft thud in the RF only when turning at slow speed. He observed this to me early on, but hasn't mentioned it since, so, it is probably normal and he doesn't worry about it.

Doesn't sound normal, I feel. My '22 doesn't produce thuds when turning or coming to a stop . It never has.

You should maybe get it checked.

I would say though, that it may be ABS-related. I had an MX-5 NC2 that would occasionally make a one-off clunking sound each time I turned to leave my driveway. Normal ABS behaviour as Mazda later confirmed.

Now that you mention it, my GT1 does this occasionally as I back out and turn the steering wheel left - a single clunk, not very loud but quite clear. It happens when I cross the gutter, turning the steering wheel. My wife has gone, "What's that?" a few times over the years. And I always reply with something like, "It's a suspension in varying temperatures. A lot of parts involved. Anything is possible. If it doesn't start happening more often I won't worry about it."

The thud sound is coming from the rear when making a quick turn and a bit of gas from a stop. It feels like some things are releasing from binding. I don't hear it if turning slowly. and it does not happen all the time.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

When accelerating from a stop while turning, I intermittently hear and feel a thud/clunk from the rear of the car. It’s most noticeable under moderate throttle and feels like the rear differential slips then catches. It doesn’t happen every time, but only in that specific condition. Had anyone have similar experience?
