2022 Stinger Spy shot with changed Kia logo

I think the Stinger script started on the 2019 models here in the states if I'm correct. I have a 2020 and it's on the back. Personally, I don't hate the Kia on the front, I just like my badge color coded to the car in some way.

I have an MY19 and plan to get a facelift model in a couple of years but I really hate those new oversized exhaust pipes. When the facelift model arrives in the USA I'll be interested to see if anyone tries modifying the rear diffuser and replacing the chrome exhaust tips with something closer to the pre-facelift model (or completely replacing the diffuser and exhaust tips with the pre-facelift ones).

does anyone know if the 2022 will feature the same AWD system as the GTS?

how come no one in this thread/forum seemed to mention that the 2022's were headed USA showrooms a week ago?

exactly. KIA snuck this thing out and nobody seemed to know until they started showing up last week. Until then it was mid-summer/ fall. Had I known it was now I would have waited.

A dealer posted that they were coming out in early March back in February. As @MerlintheMad alluded to I picked up mine on Feb 26. I had test drove a black 2021 on the 24th, and a day later they let me know the 2022 came in.

And they still aren't on the website.

noone knew exactly but literally everywhere Ive read said mid summer at the worst and more than likely in the spring. So its only a month or two ahead of what Ive been reading. No where Ive read said midsummer-fall. Since the 2021 and 2020 model years are identical it makes sense to come out early. IMO what they should have done was either skip over the 2021 year or make these new ones coming out 2021s.

If Kia handles this afternoons announcement like they did the Carnival then the 2022 Stinger will be on the website this afternoon.

oh right i know there hasnt been a press release (its today). But I dont think I ever read anyone guessing much later this year. There were pictures of the Stinger 8 months ago too. Like you said the only difference between the ones 8 months ago and today are just the new logo.

Interesting read about UVO Next Gen on the Stinger. Seem like USA is getting Canada UVO features and next gen features in the MY22 Stinger.

2022 Kia Stinger Features Next Generation UVO Telematics Suite - Korean Car Blog

From KCB:

Along with the subtly refreshed design that we’ve reported extensively on, Kia has launched the 2022 Stinger with a next generation UVO system that allows drivers to get more out of their ownership experience. Some features have been upgraded while some are all-new for 2022.

One feature that has been enhanced is cloud-based navigation routing that accounts for predicted traffic information and uses machine learning to understand the routes the driver prefers to take even if they differ from the system-recommended directions, and includes last mile walking directions to destinations that aren’t accessible by car. Voice recognition is also improved, with many more actions being accessible by voice than before, including climate control, seat heating and cooling, heated steering wheel, and additional infotainment controls. The system is designed to understand more commands than ever before.

There are plenty of new features to discuss as well. For example, you can now set up multiple driver’s accounts in UVO which will tailor the car’s settings to each driver, and even allow drivers to apply those settings to other Kia models they may drive. This can be more useful than you may think, as many Stinger owners have other Kia models in their garages as well, and they may find themselves in a rental or loaner car that they can apply those settings to. Drivers can also sync their online calendar to their account, which will allow calendar items to pop up on the infotainment screen, avoiding missing important meetings even when you’re behind the wheel. And, if a calendar invite includes an address, the Stinger will ask if you want to navigate to the meeting location in time to make it for the appointment.

Once you set up a UVO account, you can also connect it to other smart devices for additional accessibility. By connecting to your phone, you can receive push notifications if you leave your car idling with no one inside. If you don’t respond in a timely manner, the car will automatically turn itself off. Likewise, the rear occupancy alert will notify owners through the smartphone app if it detects movement inside the vehicle while it’s locked. The app will also allow you to remotely view the 360-degree cameras installed around the car whenever you like. This helps if you forgot where you left your car or just want to make sure nothing suspicious is taking place around your vehicle when you’re away. You can also connect UVO to smart speakers like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and then use voice commands on your device to remote start the car.

Finally, UVO offers a valet mode that limits the infotainment system to only the core functions of the car. This allows you to hide certain personal information that may be stored in the system if you need to lend your car out or have it valeted.

The Stinger now features remote start directly on the key fob, but still allows you to remote start through the UVO app as well, although this will become a less frequently used feature now that it’s more easily accessible on the key. Unfortunately, this feature comes with a drawback: Kia no longer provides a higher quality unique key fob to Stinger owners for 2022.

Well, that's news. What does it look like? Is it that rectangular button fob I've seen pictured on here a couple of times? How is the unique Stinger fob of older model years "higher quality" exactly?

yeah the lock button is rectangular vs circular. And the old one looks leather wrapped and new one is hard plastic. Here is a screen shot from the Ben Hardy youtube review. Stinger keys.JPG

New one clearly plastic so thats a bummer. Stinger Key plastic.webp

I mean, I'd rather have a real remote start button on my key then the extra cheap 90s lookin Viper remote Kia gave me. Not sure why they couldn't just alter the existing remote to include the new button?

Why do they need a specific remote for the Stinger? It makes more sense to use one design if possible.

We first year first model owners got pampered with the lil extras
