2019?

-quite honestly, tariffs or not, i would not have considered any of the alternatives that have been listed. if i was going to pay an extra 6-10 grand because of tariffs, i would have just bought another caddy cts-v. or another mustang, or what-not. lincoln is a no-go, buick ( i know its made in germany) is fugly as all get out and the acura tlx is an overblown honda with a nice interior. and even that isn't as nice as it used to be. i was discussing this with another forum member last night, there isn't anything comparable in this price range, once you add 10 grand to the mix, it becomes harder, but nothing american made comes close to the practicality, so there really isn't a question to be answered. or..get a truck.
I agree, I would still be driving an SUV.

The Stinger's price tags certainly attracted me right away. The price comparisons with similar purposed cars were stark. If tariffs add on another 6 to 10K that will go away. We might end up being the only Stinger owners in the US. What will that be, c. 10K of us? Not too bad, I guess. Certainly the Stinger will qualify as a rare car, and Kia will still be there to back us up. It is fun driving a rare car, I have to admit. The only thing that seems like a negative is the danger of having the Stinger virtually disappear as a failed attempt. That I would seriously regret.

The car has and continues to do what KIA wanted, which was to generate buzz for the brand and let people know what they are capable of. I don’t think they would stop selling the car if they had to increase the price, they would probably add more equipment to build in some value to the extra cost. They need to make the Forte with a performance variant as well as other vehicles in their lineup. They already have some good looking vehicles, make them perform better so folks will have another choice in each vehicle line. Also change up their dealerships to provide enhanced customer service experience so buyers will see the brand in a whole new light.

With that, they will still be at a lower cost than their competitors but folks who expect a little extra will get that and don’t feel the brand isn’t at that level. It will take time to change people’s mind but it is possible.

I like the idea of them making sporty versions of the Forte but did that do much for Ford with the Focus/Fiesta ST/RS? Or the Fiat Abarth? I've seen them around but they don't seem to be selling all that well. It's basically like "buy a Golf" if you want a hot hatch.

The 2019 version they advertised looks a bit bigger than before and sportier as well. Why not drop a sportier 2.0T in it with better suspension or better yet, make that Novo concept into reality with a powerful launch engine, say a 3.0T. It’s looks are similar to the Stinger, they could drive even more traffic to their dealers by making it drive similar to a 340 with a Sport package. I know the world is going CUV/SUV crazy now but some folks still will take a sporty sedan/hatch or even a jacked up wagon. This trade thing will settle down, they will get it sorted, In the meantime I’m just dreaming of what else KIA can bring the change the brand.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I hope they discontinue the Stinger and for those of us that have it, it will be a unique and rear car. This will make the car hold its value and be a rarity like the 93-98 Toyota Supra 2JZ.
They'll give it about two more years and then decide .

They'll actually be deciding by September when the U.S. announces yes or no to 25% tariffs.
The US buys most Stingers. Production will probably end if these proposed tariffs go through in 1.5 months.
Hopefully a Korean deal can be made to stop these killer tariffs from taking effect.

That would suck. Makes these lease deals a thing one want to jump on now.

Close to zero changes for 2019? I hope you're wrong, but that means I'm definitely out. Bummer.

Going to head over to the G70 forums and look for AWD speed governor stuff...Kia/Hyundai/Genesis may not be the right company after all. :( :( :(

mang.

That would be awful paying 10k extra or car getting discontinued. I am in a confused state, I am about to shift to a different state in the next 5-7 weeks. I don't like the color combo offered in GT2. Was hoping 2019 might be different.

Hopefully it's a scare tactic and they work something out, 25% tariffs would end so many great cars :(

I am with you! I want the white paint with the red interior in a RWD GT2.

Yep, I was planning to get white or silky silver with red interior but white never showed up on the US Kia's website and now silky silver is gone. Hard to find a silky silver car now. Brown interior looks good too.

I'll be down for a swap. I want red interior on my GT2.:D

Waiting for micro blue (or that orange we saw pre-release) with red interior, and 360º camera. Or the brown interior that the Atlantica was supposed to have. Anything but black, or white.

On the tariffs, my understand is that only countries where the trade agreement significantly benefits that country/harms the USA would be hit. Not sure Korea falls into that category?

Errr..... then, KIA would bleed heavily..... and not able to bank on its latest premium product... :D:p:cool:
