2019 Comprehensive Exhaust Discussion

Ever since I heard the BAQ Exhaust (bi-modal) with the valve open, nothing else sounds good to me. Even the closed sounded good. Maybe they just did the best job of capturing the sound in their videos. It makes me want one but they are VERY expensive.
I respectfully disagree. With the valves closed it sometimes sounds like my old 125 Honda dirt bike. At least the open valves sounds pretty good and similar to MPBRs “drone-less” catback that’s only $699.
New 3.3L Catback option(s)
Audio clip below and one of the best sounding catbacks available for our Stingers.https://mbrpautomotive.com/npr/usd/S4704-USD/S4704304 2019 KIA STINGER CAT BACK.mp4

Just don’t understand what anyone would spend all that extra money for an aftermarket exhaust that only sounds good half the time.

I am inclined to agree with you. They do sound good. If only they made a bi-modal version. After comments from passengers in my last car, I need the option. Happy wife = happy life is why it needs to sound good half the time for me. :) To be honest though, I'd be curious to know if the SS version could be found for less than a grand. It looks like Summit has then from just over $1k when tax is applied. Thanks for pointing these out!

S4704304 - MBRP Exhaust - Pro Series

I don’t believe Moddiction collects sales tax.

The stock system is too "smooth jazzy" for me. I just want something a bit more aggressive and with a bit deeper voicing. Stock is like not having a subwoofer in your home audio system to me. Just need a bit of bottom end or foundation.

This is exactly what I'm looking for. I don't need my comfy racecar shooting flames or aggressively popping, but I'd like some sustenance. Something to back up the, (arguably to some) elegant and smooth sound of this v6.

I would argue the exhaust note on this car is very nice, however there isn't any MEAT to it.

where did you ever see the MBRP exhaust for $699 ??

since we are providing opinions / prices ... maybe it would have been nice to say that the 699UDS is the aluminum version ...

Yeah, it would be killer to find a stainless exhaust at that price. Depending on one's climate or length of time that they own the car, the aluminized steel version might be appropriate. Some may be fine with it lasting as long as they own the car and then swapping the stock back on when they are done. Nice to know there is something at this price point that sounds decent.

totally agree with you !
In Canada , you definitely want to go SS ... otherwise that aluminum is not going to last you two winters

I would be interested to get someone review from the AL version after a year or so, for less than $700, not a bad price, I agree with you.

What is our stock exhaust made out of? Most stock exhaust systems are steel. Not even aluminized steel.

Sorry. I didn’t see others specifying different versions and I included a link so people could research it themselves. For many people leasing their Stingers, or living in the south it’s not a big difference and most wouldn't waste the extra money just to have pure SS.

Also it’s not just aluminum, it’s heavy duty Aluminized Steel and has a 3yr manufactures warranty. Direct from MBRP “Built from heavy duty aluminized steel our Installer Series performance exhaust systems offer a value price without compromising on the quality built into every component. While the seams are a major point of rust through with some budget systems our fully sealed tubing adds years to your system. Constructed to the same specifications as our top of the line Pro Series we back this line with an industry leading 3 Year Warranty.”

Since I leased my Stinger that warranty would cover the length of my ownership and I’d have to put it back to stock anyway. I wouldn’t want to go through the hassle of trying to sell a used exhaust so I wouldn’t pay almost 50% more for the same performance & sound.

To each their own and was just showing others you didn’t have to pay an arm & a leg for an amazing sounding catback.

Good question but from the looks of it it’s not SS and actually looks like Aluminized Steel. Anyone know for sure?

Here it is - I frequent this forum often, however I never make my own threads. I've noticed the complaints for louder exhaust systems have died down, and I think that needs to change.

My 2019 is bone stock, save for a rear valve stem (haha), and I have to say there are plenty of things wrong with this car.

I have a misaligned panel.
The dealer sent me on my way, off the lot, with FIFTY PSI in each tire(and consequently had an uncovered blowout)
The displays are a bit cheesy.
The car beeps so d**n much.

But oh I love it. The car is awesome. ITS FAST. ITS FUN. But it is too quiet! (I know its a "GT" car, but so is the Mustang, so is the Maserati GT, blah blah blah)

I want a GOOD EXHAUST SYSTEM. I want to hear the v6, I want to hear some turbo flutter, all that good stuff. I have looked into, what I feel, is every option available AND NONE OF THEM are appealing.

I know this car wont get to Mustang level (which I don't particularly want), but even straight-piped it seems like the car just sounds like noise. A slushy, poor mix of Turbo whooshing and chugg-y 8-speed noise that all meshes together into a "gross" sound.

Now I can and will accept drone, I just want the car to sound GOOD. (Hell, I drove a Genesis coupe for 3 years and I couldn't hear myself think but I SMILED when I turned the key EVERY TIME) If the car comes stock with FOUR exhaust tips, I want to be able to back that up with SOME sound.

So I have looked into Kunstwerk exhaust (they sound OKAY.

Jun.Bl sounds OKAY.

But Tork? Magnaflow? Stillen? Even Borla? They all practically sound STOCK! If they at least produced a nominally DIFFERENT sound, I would be more interested - but they're all practically the same.

What are your personal favorites? What are your recommendations? Lets get talkin'.

Where on gods green earth did you come up with the conclusion that Borla sounds like the stock exhaust? The 2 are starkly different I can assure you.

Yea that sounds like my exhaust with just an Ark secondary downpipe secondary cat delete.

I guarantee that is not correct. People quickly forget that we're comparing sound clips off of cellphone cameras that use the same mic we used to talk to pick up the sound.

Then stop using it as evidence that it's louder than stock.

Here is mine to me both sound the same play them at the same time and you can't tell who's is whos.
I'm using a set of Bose Noise Cancelling headphones to listen too

You can clearly hear its louder than stock on the video, its a distinctly different note, and the volume range change is very noticable. I didn't say yours wasn't louder, I said It doesn't sound the same as the Borla, and it doesn't. You must have some go go gadget arms with the amount of reaching you do..

noise cancelling describes the headsets ability to block out noises not being rendered by the headset itself, so going the extra length of adding that into the description of the headset you're using to listen to exhaust notes through the headset...is as pointless as it gets and suggestive of just how little you know about audio/video

The point is that they are not some crappy speakers and there is no outside noise interfering with the audio. I'm just saying when I listen to your video and my video I hear ZERO difference your the one that wants to argue that people shouldn't use cell phone mic's for audio comparison but then you are doing exactly that yourself.

Cell phone recordings do not do any exhaust justice. I tried to capture my Kunstwerk, recordings sound so so. In person sounds awsome. I am willing to bet my car that the borla is louder than stock!
