Hey guys I’ve been on this thread for awhile and it has helped EXTREMELY so thank you. This is my first post in here and I’ve been having some problems as of today. I have a jb4, injen intakes, hp spark plugs, and the big ram lit kit on e30. 75% of the time I hit the gas and it reaches 3k to 4k RPM it cuts all of my power for a second before finally getting it back and shifting a second later. Does this more in the lower gears than anything. Am I finally jackin up the fuel system with the E85? Spark plugs going out? Hopefully nothing with my tranny I’m not under warranty so kinda need all the help I can here. Have a good one everyone enjoy those snack packs.

rwd? does it do this power cut consistently even with traction and stability fully off??

Howdy, finally. :P

Why do you say that your trans is not under warranty? The drivetrain is good for another seven years and 100K miles (whichever comes first).

Even bone stock, hesitation can occur. A month ago I was having "chugging" issues, where the engine would hesitate, rapidly, then full power would kick in. But it went away when I stopped asking for boost in Eco mode (the setting for engine I use in Custom), and using the paddle shifters. When I want to really hit it (kickdown switch time), I go to Sport mode and tend to let the trans shift for itself. It works amazingly well. Go, figure.

I am not the original owner. Bought a 2018 gt2 with about 25k on it 4 hours away from me that’s why but I may be wrong. I’m only 19 and Live on my own so the helps amazing lol thanks. But I’m not even really talking about full throttle brotha I give it maybe 15% and it slowly builds up then loses every ounce of power while the rpm is still building.

I’m giving it no gas. I know our traction controls shitty but I’ve had the car about a year and ik that’s not it lol. But yea I put it in every mode and turned traction and stability off

well, even second owners get the warranty, it is just reduced to 5 year 60k miles for powertrain, and still the same 5 year 60k mile basic warranty.

are you in sport mode when this happens? Traction control cutting in?

Try this, put it in manual mode and shift to second gear, then accelerate smoothly through the point where the hesitation happens. Now slowly decelerate all the way down to about 1000 RPM. You should kinda feel where the torque converter unlocks and the car is just coasting, you’ll be at like 5mph or so. Now roll back on the throttle nice an steady and see if you can faithfully reproduce the studder every time.

Also, try the same as above but don’t slow down all the way where the torque converter unlocks. While the converter is still locked try rolling on the throttle and see if the hesitation goes away.

All this is just for my curiosity. I have no answers but I am gathering data on how the trans in this car functions.

Even if I bought it outside of an actual Kia dealership?

I bought a 2020 from CarMax with 11K miles and Kia is replacing my transmission under warranty. That was not without an incredible fight though. Very ugly.

Correct, it is a manufacturer warranty not tied to a dealer.
