We just picked up a 2018 Stinger GT2 for the wife this past Saturday and she loves it, I've had about 10 minutes behind the wheel myself so I can't say how I feel about it yet, lol! I have some questions about it though since I will be doing the basic maintenance on it and the stealership will only handle what needs to be done to maintain the warranty. This car was first delivered on the Canadian side of the border and spent the first 42 thousand miles of its time up there. I'm not concerned about rust issues as I had the dealer put it up on a lift so we could walk underneath and look closely at what was going on with it. The manager assured us it was garage kept in its prior life, but they will also tell you anything they think they need to to move a unit so you know we immediately didn't believe him but he was right. No excessive rust underneath, nary a spot of surface rust on the exhaust even so it was will pampered prior to is snapping it up it seems. My question(s) have more to do with the differences between Canadian market cars and US market cars in terms of content

Sorry, phone did something stupid, it actually was probably me, and put this up before I could finish but I got in a nutshell what I'm looking for. Where can I find the difference in standard/package features between Canadian and US cars? I Googled it and of course get more misdirection and indefinite answers than I do real answers. Also, is there anything in terms of actual hardware/maintenance items that I should be sure to keep in mind when sourcing parts not only for maintenance but also performance upgrades?

Hi the_wifes_toy,

Welcome to the Stinger Forum and congrats to you and your wife on the new car!

The trickiest part when it comes to looking at the differences between the US and CA is the trim labels.

From my understanding, the GT2 Kia Stinger's for 2018 should be the same options for both countries in question.

If you are looking for any aftermarket or OEM parts, we ship worldwide and would be glad to help get you what you need.

Feel free to reach out if you have any questions or if you need a discount on your order!

Enjoy the new ride,
Daniel @ the K8 Stinger Store

Hopefully the dealer you bought it from transfered the VIN to the US market, if not good luck getting KIA corp. to do any maintenance or warranty work. Did you get it CPO?

I have a Canadian Stinger and my dealer (criminals) told me to take it back to Canada for warranty work, the vin isn't in the KIA US system and they won't add it.
Glad I bought it outright.

And WELCOME!

2018 Canadian GT2 (Elite) had all the good stuff even the 360 camera that the US market didn't get. If you are lucky you might have got a LDS, have to climb under the rear to check though as they dont designate the build info if you actually do. There will be "LSD" stamped into the case by the fill bolt.

We didn't have any issues getting registration and tags switched over from the trade in so I'll assume all the paperwork on their end was/is correct and it was purchased under the Kia CPO program so again assuming they did their part correctly. I have the wife doing the registration thing with KIA at some point today so I guess that will be the true tell all. Thanks for the welcome and all I can say is so far the seat time I've gotten with it has been much better than the outgoing SHO she had before. I get they're different cars for different market segments but I have been pleasantly surprised with the driving experience having never been in a Hyundai/Kia vehicle before.

If it's CPO you are fine, thank goodness.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your wife's new Stinger! What did the Stinger replace for her? I'm glad you found us. :)

Greetings. You are going to love driving the Stinger. Unless YOUR car really hauls (you didn't say what your ride is), the two of you are going to vie for the Stinger, and look for excuses to drive it.:D

I daily an 18 F150 I picked up new or my work beater. Her last car was a Taurus SHO and we've both had multiple mustangs. Thus far the driving experience in this car is night and day to all the other vehicles we've gone through in the past handful of years. It's a much better car in terms of overall driving experience even if not as quick as some. Yet

Lol. You have come to "the house of temptation". It doesn't take much to raise the HP to over 400 (I read a lot: my powertrain is bone stock).

Ahh, I see. In that case, I think the Stinger GT makes a great upgrade. I always did like the SHOs - even back in the 80s...
It was a great car until the VCT started to take a crap. Multiple weeks in the shop and several thousand dollars for the repair because of parts shortages because Ford has soooo many issues with VCT on the 3.5tt. It wasn't worth it to me even wothbit being paid off specifically because the replacement parts are prone to failure again themselves. Spent many weeks researching it all and I just couldn't make it make sense.

That's what I had read before she landed on the Stinger being her replacement car. I'm the researcher, she's the it's shiny and pretty type. I'm already "working" on her to let me upgrade some things. She's only had it 2 days so I'll let her get used to it first. Lol
