Dealer in my area had a 2018 GT2 that I thought he might be willing to move since its the end of the month AND the year, and the car looked ok online, even though this new car had a 'performance' upgrade which consisted of cold air intakes. They had it listed for $45k after dealer discounts, even though half looked like they were including every rebate under the sun (including military rebate) which is obviously not realistic. But whatever, I went to check it out.

Well this 'new' GT2 turned out to be a demo car with 4500 miles on it. When I called out this glaringly missing piece of information from the website, the guy on the floor said "oh don't worry, it was used by our manager, and he took great care of it" which I of course laughed off because I'm sure if he went though the trouble of adding the intakes, he was probably gunning it for all those miles. He assured me it's still considered new because it's under 5000 miles.

Well I humored him to hear out what kind of savings they could offer, and basically mentioned it was already lowered to its aggressive price of $45k which compensated for the miles and the age of the car as well as some ground effects and spoiler they put on.

I pretty much said I've been seeing 2018 GT2's sell for less that were actually new with no miles on them, and they basically shrugged me off. I guess they're not really looking to get rid of it any time soon.

Am I crazy? $45k for a 2018 GT2 with 4k miles on it sold as "new"? I mean that basically is a decent chunk of the warranty mileage already gone, as well as questionable care for the break in period.

I got a new 2018 GT2 last week for $35,800 including lease cash discounts. I will buy out the lease. I saw a GT2 in Austin with those miles and price. Told the dealer they were crazy.

I paid only a little more than that for a fresh-off-the-boat 2019 GT2 AWD two months ago, from @KiaofMuncie - I suggest you do a little more research.

Walk the f away

Yeah walk away. I paid less than 43K for a '18 GT2 AWD in September. It only had 18 miles on it. And they had to ship it from New York to Missouri free of charge. (Was the closest Red on Red leather in the area).

Yeah. That’s dumb. There was a 2019 GT2 demo with 2500 miles on it and were asking more for it than cars with no miles. After lease cash I got offered a 2019 GT2 with no miles for $40,000, $46,200 without incentives. You should be able to get a 2018 with no miles for no more than $42k pre incentives

Saw that car back in September. All their "new" 2018 GT2s had more than 1100 miles on them back then. Did you check out their blue 2019?

Yeah I saw that, but after being treated the way I did on the 2018 I just wanted to leave and get outta there.

Here is how I do it, I look on KIA's site to see who has what, check the dealer site and click on their link for more info on the car, send them my info to get email text communication going. Tell them what I want to do (buy/lease) and how much I want to pay (7-12% depending on current or last year) and let them come back with offers. Oh, yeah, I reach out to multiple places on this. I would have already done my test drives to get a feel for what places are playing games and how they treat their customers. When the deal is made, I go in to test drive the car to see if it is all good and check it out for damage, etc., if it's night, I tell them I will pick up the next day or weekend so I can see it in the daylight. I've done that "We Owe" paperwork which they try to wiggle out of in the past, so unless it's a place I trust based on past dealings, I want everything good before I pick it up. If it's a far away dealer or out of state, it needs to be right before I leave or no deal.
