3.3TT 2018 Genesis G80 3.3T - Questions, Concerns, Long term effects

The OP was asking about jb4 mods and their effect on the reliability/lifespan of the engine, warranty, etc. Truth is, once you modify outside the realm of the original intent of the engine/powertrain, you are running the risk of voiding the warranty.

The call is yous ultimately because it is your "dime' at the end of the day. The JB4 does what it was intended to do as long as you strictly follow directions but the decision is yours.

We live only once. Just leave your car stock. Lol.

Yeah we get it, you don't use launch control, lol...

OP, my understanding is that if you stick to map 1 and have the recommended, properly gapped plugs, it's well within the tolerances of the engine and turbos. It will synergize nicely with a freer flowing exhaust and intake and make plenty of power for street use without much risk. People have been doing it for years without issues at this point and you don't need to worry about boosting octane, or going to e85, or installing WMI. You can also keep the intake and exhaust stock and remove the jb4 whenever you take the car to the dealer, they would have no way of knowing you were running any mods.

All that said, once you're talking about major increases in boost pressure, map 4+ with race fuel, stuff like that, my guess is that you're lowering the lifespan of the engine. The WMI guys may make good arguments that their valves are cleaner than yours, but is that a net benefit over putting more strain on everything else?

Your mileage, literally, may vary.

I say when it comes to your car, do what makes you happy. If mods cause you more anxiety than joy, then don't do them.
Thank you, This is a great summary. If it's just plugs and the engine seems to be able to handle it.. I might do it. On a long trip I can just take it out I suppose. I will probably do the JB4, Pedal Commander and new plugs.

Btw, What is the launch control that Flaniganskywalker doesnt use?

Not sure if the G80 has it but our cars have launch control. When armed it sets the engine at optimal revs and squats the rear end down for better grip off the line.

I dont think the G80 has it like the G70/Stinger. But you can still brake boost Im pretty sure; turning off TC and SC, holding gas and brake at the same time.

What is your goal with these modifications? Do you feel like the 3.3T doesnt have enough power for you? Just a pedal tuner can increase the feeling of speed without actually changing it, or if there are drive modes you feel the pedal tuning isnt right for, that can help too.

JB4/plugs if you truly need more power. On long trips you can change the map to 0 to essentially disable it, no need to remove unless you are doing dealer visits.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

It's a 'because I can' decision ... If I have the availability to do this mod and I keep it to I think you said map 1, getting an extra 80hp will be nice. That's pretty significant in my eyes. I absolutely don't feel like it doesn't have enough power, but, as it says on the walls of jimmy johns, the gap between enough and more never closes.

Map1 will not be anywhere near 80hp. Think more like 30ish hp, with the bigger gains in torque at around 70ish lbft. JB4 site has dynos to show you estimated gains on each map

Totally understand the 'because I can' mentality on mods. I had that with my last car, and now I just enjoy being a source of info and following along

Yep, and "my dime' is included in that statement.....as "G70 Owner" stated, you won't get 80hp from map 1 and even if you go up in maps, additional mods would be needed such as Intake/exhaust. Do what you think your pocketbook is able to handle should things go wrong but to me, the 3.3 has plenty of power in stock form
