2.5T muffler delete options

Hello all,

Ive got a 22 gt-line and am wondering if anybody else has explored a muffler delete. theres almost no aftermarket support, atleast with exhausts, so everything you do will have to be custom from a shop. From what Ive seen on youtube, somebody replaced their muffler with an extra set of resonators to reduce the drone but still let it breathe a little better. I do not want to just straight pipe it because the drone will be horrible. I took my car to a shop today and they said they could put in resonators, but arent sure how much it will kill the drone, and the way that theyd have to fit it would mean that it would be a lot of work to return to stock if I did not like it. Does anybody have suggestions/reccomendations/experience with this? Thanks!

You won't gain anything good in performance only sound. I actually like a quiet car and depending how particular your dealer is warranty could be issued to.
The one guy that did the resonators you're talking about was reasonable though

Yeah, Im not looking for performance gains here, just the sound. To me, the one thing this car is missing is some noise, but I understand that some people prefer the quiet. I have the manufacturer warranty, and from what I understand, theyd have to prove that whatever went wrong was a direct result of me replacing my mufflers (which nothing should be) so Im not too worried about it.

Don't do it, muffler deletes on 4 cylinder & 6 cylinder engines sound horrible and extremely raspy. (Even worse on a 4 cylinder)

besides that, look up videos on yt and it doesnt just sound like your regular civic. Again I dont want to just straight pipe it, I am trying to reserve the class of the stinger by adding resonators, but this car is too quiet for how loud its looks are.

Not sure if spending 2.7k on an exhausts makes sense for this car. with that money i might as well upgrade to a 3.3tt

I respect your opinion, but to each their own. Many 2.5T owners have spent well over 2.7k in mods on their car.

I agree muffler deletes in general are horrible. However, inline4 exhaust can be done well and sound relatively good. I did this custom axle-back for my son's G70 last year, and he has been very happy. At idle, it is almost stock quiet. Low revs adds a low throaty growl. Higher revs does bark a bit but not at all obnoxiously loud.

I myself prefer stock quiet, but my son wanted a bit more "character". Besides, the stock exhaust was a boat anchor. One added benefit at the track is that it helps to hear what the engine is doing without needing to glance down at the tach.

Prior to this, we did a quick experiment with just the same end can resonator on our Stinger 2.0T, and it was too loud and wayyy too much drone. Unlike the 2.0T, the 2.5T does have a resonator, so that should help a lot. However, I still think you'd be better off with a small muffler. I went with a Flowmaster Super 10 on the G70.

Lol... My son drives the G70 and he doesn't mind, so I'm okay with it... since it does not sound like the typical Civic raspy high-pitched whine. Although, he is now rethinking the exhaust outlet, so we are planning on switching to a dual tip that matches that stock exhaust cutout better.

That's what's great about DIY. Don't like it? Nothing Amazon 2-day shipping and the Hobart bacon fryer couldn't fix.
