• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Visited my local Kia dealership on Wednesday, there was a FEB 2019 built Stinger GT in Deep Chroma Blue on the showroom floor, I spoke to the Sales Manager as I always do, he's very friendly, and remembers me from when I purchased my Stinger, tomorrow will be 2 years since I signed my contract to purchase my Stinger, and I was telling him how even nowadays the Stinger is still very rare on the roads, he mentioned the Stinger is approx selling 150 cars nationwide here in Australia, thought other Aussie forum members would like to know this.
I just remembered, the Sales Manager also mentioned that most sales of Stinger are in Victoria, don't know if this info is accurate, just sharing what he told me.

Yep this is true, I saw it published the last 3 months figures. The last month showed 150 a drop from the previous 2 months. But at best I haven't seen figures over 200 in its history.

Was the salesman saying 150 was good or was Kia disappointed? Here's a bit of a break down if you feel like nerding out.

On a personal note, I can't stand that "SUV's" are a booming segment, I really hate driving behind them as it's like driving along behind a wall. Can't see a damned thing. All we need is more of them on the road...

According to those figure which I assume were for September the Stinger sales were only 135. But the figures overall were the worst since 2011?

I like driving behind big SUVs because they act as a shield for the wind. It is kind of crazy what kind of gas mileage you can get drafting behind a big SUV or a truck.

Matched only by the number of rocks and and associated debris which smashes into your paintwork. :)

Although Kia Australia hoped for 200/month at its launch 2 years ago & in a market that is now dominated buy high volume sales of trucks & SUV’s, 150/month is not bad in this climate.
The Stinger was never meant to be a high volume seller for Kia AU it was simply a platform of which to raise the awareness of the brand.
I see more & more on a daily basis now in my local area, so they are out there & growing more & more in acceptance.
How many Hyundai Genesis G80 do you see, they have been out since 2014/2015 yet they still sell them & they have now finally added the G70.

Remember the Stinger sells along sides luxury like Lexus, Infiniti, Germans etc

It's not a Camry or Commodore alternative

In thag sense sales are good

Even still Stinger sales are dropping significantly for a newish car. At its height I saw 180-190 for a while but to drop suddenly to 150 then to 135.

@Travis Wills I noticed amongst your US sales figures you don't have a Kia Cerato , maybe it's called something else over there? Forte?

Yes, Forte. We've had a couple of low months of the Stinger. I don't think that an Aus drop from 190 to 135 is catastrophic. That seems within the range of steady to me. Now, if it continued to drop, that's a problem. But I bet sales will go back up, and down, etc.

That's not bad, equal to last year. It looks like the Stinger is going to end 2019 comparable to 2018; and last year Stinger sales met expectations.
I'm pretty sure they didn't which is why they were talking about whether or not the model would continue, they were hoping to sell a lot more cars particularly in the US than they have.

Coming into Summer maybe they'll rise again.

Stinger sales in the U.S. have been fairly consistent. Here is a link for all of the sales for Stingers in the U.S. up to September.

I had an Infiniti Q50 before the Stinger. The Infiniti sales are absolutely abysmal. They honestly might go out of business next year their sales are that bad.

The Kia Telluride sales are simply astonishing. They sell between 5,000 and 6,000 vehicles per month at near full MSRP. That alone almost matches all of INFINITI’s sales in the U.S.

Last year, the scuttlebutt was that Kia expected to sell 15K Stingers in the US the first year. They met that.

I read a recent quote from Schreyer talking about the disappointing sales and questioning the future of the model. of course, now I can't find it lol...
I think I read that quote too, a couple of months ago (don't know if it was Schreyer): and I wondered if he was talking about increasing sales not being met. The 15K sales goal for '17-'18 was supposed to be the first year "intro" benchmark, with expected sales this year to exceed that; by how much, who knows? So, yeah, disappointing this year, if sales only say c. the same as last year.

The link below shows that US sales are fairly consistent this year but they are down in every single month when compared to last year.

The important thing to remember is that Stinger sales are still there. They aren’t as great as they once were but the Telluride sales are so good it might allow Kia the ability to keep the Stinger going even if it isn’t as profitable as it once was.
