Kia Stinger vs Genesis G70

The new Kia Stinger sees a paradigm shift from old Kia sedans to a modern and supremely powerful luxury vehicle. This car is not for the faint-hearted as can be seen from the performance figures of the Stinger, especially if you consider the GT trim. The numbers are sure to surprise you – but not quite as much as the modest price tag.

The Stinger has a wonderfully sculpted design, fastback proportions and comfortable, roomy interiors. The engine is very smooth, powerful and the drive is spirited. With refined power and a fine balance between design and comfort, the Stinger has an imposing presence and stands out from the crowd.

Striking a perfect balance between power and refinement, Kia’s engineers have done an exceptional job in taking on the likes of Audi, BMW – and even Mercedes-Benz. The result of this is a finely tuned Stinger with a perfect blend of comfort, aggressive styling and impressive power in it’s class. Continue reading Kia Stinger vs Genesis G70

Never Go Full Canard?

Never go full “Canard”. Who the hell thought up that name for this Stinger part?! They should probably be fed through a wood chipper – slowly – on a Monday morning – before having had a cup of coffee. Seriously. Canard?

The definition of canard is: “an unfounded rumor or story” – or – “a small winglike projection attached to an aircraft forward of the main wing to provide extra stability or control, sometimes replacing the tail” – okay, well, I guess that sorta, kinda might make a little sense – in another dimension.

Anyway… Okay. The title of this post is a little misleading – because I actually like these things – but I thought it sounded funny. The truth is – these “canards” actually look sexy on the Stinger. I mean, take a look-sie…

Devil's Claw Fog Light Canards

Aggressive. Right? Isn’t it? I first noticed these “canards” on the Porsche Cayenne years ago. Go ahead – take a look. Nobody’s gonna rat you out…

Devil's Claw Fog Light Canards

Yeah, that’s a “canard”. Or better yet, a “Devil’s Claw”. Yeah, that sounds much better. In any event, you can buy a set, if you so desire, right here in our Stinger Shop. Go ahead! Make my day. Click here and I’ll get a set (in other words, a pair) out to you right away. And I mean immediately – because that’s how I roll, Mr. Canardo…

Kia’s Overall Score Increases Eight Points Since Last Year

  • Stinger fastback sedan dazzled in their respective segments
  • Kia continues to cement its place among the top 10 non-premium brands

IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 2, 2018 – Following the launch of the 2018 Rio and highly anticipated 2018 Stinger, Kia Motors America (KMA) has earned two more J.D. Power Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) awards for its stylish subcompact and its powerful fastback sports sedan.  The double win helped increase Kia’s overall score by eight points since last year, while also securing the brand’s spot among the top 10 non-premium nameplates. The announcement follows Kia Motors being named the highest ranked mass market brand in J.D. Power Initial Quality Study for the fourth consecutive year1, with the Rio also capturing a win in the small car segment.

“Whether it be a practical commuter car for people just looking to get from point A to B, or a sports sedan with up to 365-horsepower for enthusiasts, we design every Kia with the customer in mind,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, KMA.  “Earning a J.D. Power APEAL award for both the Rio and Stinger demonstrates the level of dedication we put on delivering a superior combination of the desirable features and attributes today’s savvy car buyers want from their vehicles.”

Completely redesigned for the 2018 model year, the Rio outshined the competition in the small car segment, being one of the only contenders to score the highest marks in overall performance and design, comfort, features, and style. The highest performing vehicle in Kia’s history, Stinger bested its more expensive European counterparts in the compact premium car segment. Kia Stinger vs BMW 6 Series

With the Stinger, Kia has improved its focus on the overall performance of its product. The aggressively styled sedan is a step forward for the South Korean carmaker as it takes on the likes of BMW, Audi and Mercedes. The Stinger shares its some of its dimensions with the Kia Optima – but is positioned above the latter due to its greater power, suspension and a more sleek and modern design – thanks to the Gregory Guillaume and Peter Schreyer.

It has a wonderfully sculpted design, fastback proportions and comfortable, luxurious, roomy interior. The engine is powerful and the drive is spirited. According to most of the automotive experts across the globe, the design team of Kia Motors has done a superb job in rolling out the perfect car to take on its European rivals. Striking a perfect balance between power and refinement, Kia’s engineers have done an exceptional job in taking on the likes of the high-end Germany automobile companies. The result of this is a finely tuned Stinger with a perfect blend of comfort, aggressive styling and impressive power.

The BMW 6 Series is available in various body styles including coupe, cabriolet and grand coupe. However, we will consider the 640i GT or the Gran Coupe, which is luxurious, large – and not a sports coupe despite being a sports car. In the last two model years, little has changed for the BMW. But how does it shine when pitched against a threatening rival that is punching far above its weight? Continue reading Kia Stinger vs BMW 6 Series

Kia Stinger vs Audi A7 and Audi S7

The Audi A7 was a pathbreaking car upon its launch – a blend of four door coupe and a sporty ride. With the 2017 model year, both the A7 and its mainstream performance version – the S7 – entered second generation. We’ll leave an RS7 comparison for later – when Kia brings us a special high performance version of the Stinger.

While the A7 is the more affordable option, the S7 is the more powerful one. Both cars are very attractive, luxurious and carry the badge of a German company. However in 2018, the established sheriffs of the town are challenged by a relatively new gunslinging foreign outlaw – the Kia Stinger!

The new Kia Stinger sees a paradigm shift from old Kia sedans to a modern and supremely powerful luxury vehicle. This one is not for the faint hearted as can be seen from the performance figures of the Stinger – especially if you consider the GT trim. Striking a perfect balance between power and refinement, Kia’s engineers have done an exceptional job in taking on the likes of Audi.
