So I’ll preface this with saying Michelin has some of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered, and I love Discount Tire. I had to replace a rear OE Pilot Sport 4. The replacement (very long story short) is defective as it is causing a substantial radial pull. However, there are literally no Pilot Sport 4 anywhere in the country, and they are back ordered for at least 30 days per Michelin. I am wondering if there was a manufacturing issue which caused them to be pulled. But after a little back and forth Michelin agreed to replace all 4 tires with the Pilot Sport 4S free of charge! So if you have an issue with a tire, keep this in mind. I’ll report back with my thoughts on the 4S

Would love to get a set of those! This is good to know for folks with tire issues from Michelin.

nice work
i had to replace with a 4S at the dealer after mine took some metal

Well, that tears it. If I need high performance "summer" tires to replace my worn ones (in the apparently not so distant future :P), and if Michelins are on backorder, I will be going with whatever equivalent alternate brand is available. I won't be waiting any THIRTY DAYS for replacement Michelins!?

Have a look at Falken FK performance range, I have used them on previous cars, well priced, larger range & great tyre in wet & dry & no road noise.

Take a look at firestone indy 500, basically rebranded Bridgestones for half the price.

Why such a huge range in tire prices?

My tire of choice, if available would be Continentals ExtremeContact Sport.

Similar performance to the MPS4 with better treadwear and a lower price.

(edit to add: those reviews are all over the place. No rating at all followed by 4.5, 4.5, no rating, etc. "Noisiest tires ever! Don't do it!!!" LOL. Followed by: "Couldn't be happier with the price/performance ratio on these tires. Buy them now!" And so on.:thumbup::p:cautious:)

Tire rack says they can have these delivered by next Wednesday. Hmm?

Here's a concern: from a review just today: "Have to make sure, at least on the E350 4matic that you rotate often. If you get any kind of feathering on the outer edge, these tires get very noisy very fast."

So we staggered setup guys and gals cannot really "rotate" our tires. All we can do is swap side to side. Would this dreaded "feathering" happen? The very last thing I will put up with is noisy tires. The Michelins might have spoiled me. I would replace them every c. 15K miles just to avoid a louder tire noise.

I'm looking seriously at the Continental I linked to above. If it isn't noisy. If I can get by in winter (I haven't used a dedicated winter tire in decades! :P) on A/S; and because it is "Y" rated (top speed rating); and because the reviewers who are "spirited" drivers give them the thumbs up for handling; I am sorely tempted to ditch the Pirelli winter tires for the staggered 19s and just keep the same tires on year-round, i.e. these Continentals. But I am worried about noise.

I actually ran the conti extreme sport, loved them, I'd say they are very comparable to the old PSS, at about 2/3 price of that tire.

On the Stingers down here we have the Contintals as standard. My personal opinion is although they're soft I don't rate them quiet. The quietest tyres I've owned were Bridgestone Potenzas, they were soft and dammed quiet.

Warranty: Treadlife Warranty:6 Years / 30,000 Miles (1) Half mileage for rear if different size than front.

Exactly the same as the Michelins. Why do you favor a Continental?

Driving the New Continental ExtremeContact Sport Performance Tire | News | Car and Driver

When researching the tire be sure to type it's (weird) name out just as Continental writes it--"ExtremeContact Sport"--or you'll get reviews from similarly named Continental tires.

At the time I was researching tires I found no tire with so much praise for so little money (compared to it's closest competitors). Unfortunately they are low on stock in the U.S. so I had to modify my order.
