3.3TT New STILLEN Intake and Cat-Back Exhaust Coming Soon

That was on my bucket list for when I got out of the Marine Corps. Scewed around and got a new job too quick. I really missed out.:laugh:
Take a vacation to Canada on Oct 17, there will be a lot of people getting smoke in the lives that day.

Or come to Cali and we can blow smoke at my grill to see intakes suck it up...but car will use more gas because of munchies!

Ha, my sister went to Canada in June for a wedding. While there she bought a pipe for her retirement bucket list. You guys get all the fun.

You all did your research and made well educated decisions when you bought your Stingers so it only makes sense that you would do the same when modifying them. I'm happy to answer your questions to the best of my ability. I hesitate to revisit the smoke test since it's honestly fairly trivial but, we used an automotive smoke testing machine and placed the smoke source in front of the grill with the hood open and the engine running. We were then able to observe that the intake was, in fact, drawing air from the intake ducting in the core support to our intake. Like I said, not exactly a fluid dynamics experiment for a doctoral dissertation, just making sure it worked as intended.

They are shipping in two more weeks?

been watching this thread for a while! When are you guys gonna stop debating about this intake and stop comparing which one is better than the other one. I think one solution is choose what you like and be happy with it though;) after all it's your money!
Don't agree......

Forums are for discussing, debating, comparing and disagreeing about products /topics.

well your right that's why you don't agree to my post LOL! So you got an intake in your Stinger?

Long story short. Has anyone received any confirmation on delivery date for the Stillen intake?

I believe, until one of us get the intake install, post real pics and share the mod experience we all are going to continue speculating on the product efficiency, sound, etc.

My opinion: I like the way the Stillen looks in the engine bay for show. But unsure the true purpose of the enclosure. So, I don't really care on the gains on HP of one intake over the other. I'm smoking cars on the road with factory setting almost on a daily basis in the highway. I'm not trying to win a drag race, "yet" :) Oh, and I forgot to mention that I did smoke some guy on a motorcycle the other day too. On the same note, I have to admit that a Mercedes G63 AMG smoke me but he was impress how I keep close to him. :)

Sooo, I skimmed y'all arguing and stuff and wanted to add my $0.02 as most of you know I own the K&N Typhoon system and can compare them based on the product component breakdown pics.

1) The Stillen has a smarter pipe design. Similar to how I had my custom downpipes shaped: eliminating or reducing the sharpness of bends is key to reducing airflow restriction. The K&N model follows the path of the stock pipe, the Stillen model "cuts the corner" and goes down at an angle reducing the overall pipe length and severity of the bends. Though, this does mean the air enters the turbine at an uneven velocity (this is why you always see exhaust pipes straighten out before a flange, or any other sort of joint or coupling point: you want air straightened out before entering any sort of disturbance), but at the rate of compression for such a small turbo, this is a non-issue. Basically air entering at the top of the coupler is going slower than the air entering at the bottom of the coupler by a small amount. You can look up thermodynamics and fluids and see pictures of liquids or air traveling around bends and what I'm saying will all make sense.
2) Stillen has a smaller air filter than anticipated, and looks to consequently be THE smallest air filter used on a Stinger aftermarket intake. K&N took that crown prior, and I was already concerned by the lack of surface area, but Stillen's marginally smaller filter has me concerned. I have no way of measuring the CFM of these filters, but if a chip/tune increases 4-5 PSI per side, I sure hope these small surface area filters aren't holding back several horsepower at high RPMs. I've already been investigating how to squeeze in a larger filter on my K&N Typhoons, so going smaller even in the slightest concerns me.

Hope that helps y'all make a buying decision! As many of you already know, I modified my intake to eliminate heatsoak, and I recommend that same procedure for any of these aftermarket intakes equipped with heatshields.

Any news on shipping?

I just got an email from Khar saying Stillen started shipping them Friday but they are backed up. The email says they're HOPING to ship mine Wednesday.

Did anyone here actually get shipping confirmation Friday? I have a feeling this is Stillen's new way of saying "two more weeks".

@Kamauxx i didn't nor did I hear of anyone else getting one. They said this week, but who knows...

I figured as much. It's just another one of their delay games, except now they have our money.

Hopefully we get some good news tomorrow.

Welp, one week later and I just called Stillen and got some strange news.

The "customer service" rep I spoke with said the last time he was update they told him 1-2 weeks. He didn't mention when he was given that timeline.

He then said he isn't sure what the current estimated wait time is.

I asked him if there was anyone around that I could speak with who may have more information and he told me no one really knows, including the team that assembles everything, because they're waiting on outside suppliers for certain parts. Apparently the supplier doesn't work on any sort of timeline or provide Stillen with any updates. o_O

Essentially he told me no one at Stillen has any idea when the parts to make the intakes will be sent to them, let alone when the intakes will be built, assembled, packaged, or shipped.

What a frekkin company...

Sounds like sh@t show. I was going to give them until this coming Friday before pulling the plug on my order but sounds like even that won’t be enough time. I think I’ll just pull it today... geez
