The word "warranty" appears not in the table of contents or index. And when I have run into the phrase, it is "bumper to bumper limited warranty". This is the online PDF: https://www.kia.com/us/k3/content/media/all/warranty/2018_warranty.pdf And there is nothing in it specifically, separately, about paint. Where, for instance, do we read specifically about the 36 month warranty on paint?Isn’t that what a bumper to bumper warranty is ?

You must have a different book than I do. Or I am just not seeing it in either my owners manual or the warranty manual.I. Just showed you
Please go back a few posts, I gave you pictures. It's in the consumer and warranty manual, which is a different book within the owners manual packetON page 32 there is this:
What Is Not Covered • Damage or corrosion due to such factors as accidents, negligence, improper repairs or adjustments, misuse, alterations or collision. • Damage or surface corrosion from environment such as acid rain, airborne fallout (chemicals, tree sap), stones, salt, road hazards, hail, wind storm, lightning, floods and other acts of God. • Normal wear, tear or deterioration such as discoloration, fading, deformation, etc.
What is your build date? Its listed in the driver door jam. Also start a case with kia customer care rather than the dealer.I bought my car in April and have noticed 5 chips in the hood. I live in Canada and When I took it to the dealership they say it is rock chips and they wont cover the paint on warranty. I Know for a fact that it is NOT rock chips it is flaking . Dealership has been awful to deal with.. I hope KIA steps up and addresses these paint issues. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the car but when there is a flaw as big as this it needs to be addressed properly to make customers want to keep dealing with Kia and refer others to buy these cars.
That looks different than my blue chips. Mine all go to metal and show no signs of impact. What is your build date?Sorry guys didnt read all 87 pages but I've notice that the paint on the stinger can easily be chipped. I have the micro blue and everytime I wash the car I notice more chips! I'm very careful about following too close to trucks etc. On my other cars I dont get bad paint chip until I hit a huge rock or so but on the stinger it seems like a tiny rock can cause paint damage.

I did receive them all. And the online warranty manual is of course an identical PDF copy. Your use of "owners manual" threw me for a little while. I think we are communicating effectively now.![]()
Thats putting it mildly. Mine has the weakest paint i have ever seen on a car. It's mostly the 2017 builds chipping. Looks like your paint put up a small fight. I don't get scratches at all as the paint just comes off instead.Yeah that looks deep. Mine was built 10/17.
Regardless of how big or small the chip is the quality of kia paint isnt great.
jumping in with a class action lawsuit solves nothing. other than the yellow stingers affected, and those are being resparyed by kia, there aren't many other colored stingers that have problems. and i stress not many. so, to want to sue instead of reaching out to kia and see what they are willing to do is just wasting time and money. the only people who will benefit are the attorneys. a simple phone call and a ratonal conversation usually does the trick. and i am the first to say that i am not a rational person, just ask the mrs, we have both had some seriously messed up cars, from new, that weren't handled with the speed that kia is doing. and much more expensive cars. and i know that there are several forum members who owned or still own high end cars, you cannot tell me all of your cars did not have some problem from the factory that they wouldn't repair free of charge and give you money on top of that, AND give you the option of giving the car back 30 days later. come on! nobody does things like that.Suggesting a class action lawsuit is emotional right off the bat. To suggest that there is only common sense here is disingenuous. Kia will respond positively if approached positively. The first antagonistic salvo will result in Kia's people circling the wagons. Then try and get anywhere with this!
Reds, Blacks, Blues, and any even more rare failures, will get to move forward and obtain spiff repaints on a case by case basis; not from some class action lawsuit! That's not even practical. It would play out over years. Nobody would be getting over it.
Now, if you can get a group together who accuse Kia of not honoring their paint warranty, that would be a different approach. But I will guess that the number of angry owners who actually have a legitimate beef against Kia not honoring their paint warranty will be extremely small, not enough for a class action in fact.

Regarding the bumper and the warranty...my dealer offered to cover the bumper at the same time of the repaint. He didnt specifically mention the paint warranty but said the bumper paint issues would be handled at the same time as the SB repaint. Now just waiting on some written confirmation from either Case Rep or dealer stating the same! Those with issues on "non impact" areas should have a fairly strong case for warranty repair.
Agreed, i am not confident i would receive this same offer at some of the other dealers near me...my current one i have tried to build a relationship in the short time of ownership and liked them from the start with the buying process. Even though i ended up buying elsewhere for the yellow.I agree, but, with kias past here in the u.s., it is an uphill battle to make sure that their dealer network is up to par. think about all the other dealers, we all know someone who says such and such dealer messed up their "insert car make" and someone else will chime in that they should have gone to dealer B. same here. I can expound about the stinger being a new halo car, teething pains, blah blah blah, but at the end of the day, they are actually trying to repair the bad paint and fix their reputations. now, if the dealership/paint shop isn't up to par, then hey, by all means, I will take that $5.69 settlement, as long as the car has been repaired to a high standard. I also worked hard for my yellow, even though the mrs hides the keys from me.
