Do any of you guys happen to know what kinda job it is to replace the glass on a stinger? I’m trying to get kia to change mine but I’m wondering if they have to drop the headliner to do this. I hope it have be done from the top of the car with a couple of bolts. Any info would be great.

My guess is they have to drop the headliner...

I can not find anything on the web about it but I did find the optima instrusions. The optima sun roof looks very similar to the stinger. You can just start to open the roof and pull these two trim covers off and it’s 6 hex bolts to pull glass out. My brother works in a auto body shop and he said the book says is a two hour job for the optima. I looked at the stinger and with out pulling off that little trim piece I could already see two of the hex bolts one one side so I’m hopeful the headliner will not need to be pulled down....

I had my sunroof replaced due to some deep scratches, and it was more than just the glass. Much of the mechanism gets replaced at the same time.

How did your interior look after the job was done? I’m worried about rattles and damage to head liner and panels.... what caused ur scratches? This is the issue with my glass.

There are probably drainage tubes as well which will need to be checked... I believe the liner would need to come out for that.

I had no problems with the interior after the replacement. Headliner looked the same as when I brought it in, and no noticeable change to any panel. I did not notice any new noises afterwards, and I was hyper focused on it for several weeks to make sure. There was a bit of a lubricant smell for a few days, but that did not surprise me and faded quickly.

I think the scratches were there when I bought the car, to be honest. There were multiple parallel scratches across the glass on each side, with clear companions on the other side of the car. They did not span the whole width. It almost looked like a buckle from a strap was dragged across the glass. Dealership swears they weren’t there, and that my ppf and ceramic guy must have done it. Never got to the bottom of it, unfortunately.

Thanks for the info makes me feel a little better. My dealer still has not even gotten back to me if kia will do anything about my glass. Mine is a factory defect for sure in the coating of the glass affecting the oem tint. I get nervous when anyone works on my car. Even when they tinted my back windows there was a scratch with some kinda glue on my roof liner. I got it cleaned up to where you don’t really see it but at the right angle you can see it a bit.

Just a update the car is going in Friday and Kia is replacing the glass. They do not have to remove the headliner thank f. It’s only going to take a hour or two. So far kia has been great to deal with.

How much did the replacing of the glass cost?
