Nice pun, at this point if they respray my car, it’s every body panel minus the rear bumper. That’s going to look just the best.
Agreed, however, given the fitment issue, i think there needs to be additional steps taken so as not to rub the new paint also. Not certain if you can just slap a piece of rubber molding in there to make this go away! When we have actual Kia dealers themselves......and most us of.....finding NEW cars sitting on the lots with paint peeling around the headlights, how in the name of sanity would Kia not re-spray the bumpers? Last I knew these parts are part of the bumper.
You can't reason with Pontiac people.Just found a headlight chip on my car as well. Each time I find a chip I become a bit more frustrated. I love what the Stinger is as a car, what it represents in terms of market deviation, but this issue just gives ammunition to the it’s just a Kia crowd.
Saw a post on a G8 owners page comparing the last Aussie version of the SS to the TT V6 the and those guys refused to even accept the fact that the Stinger is as fast and handles better.
So you have no other paint issues but around the headlights?Well, just took mine to the dealership today to show them the peeling paint. Showed them the peeling paint in the headlight area I posted pictures of in my earlier post. They immediately agreed that this is an issue with the paint. We initially set up an appointment for next week to further evaluate it since their repair specialist was on vacation. Within an hour of me leaving the dealership, I received a phone call from them. They had already contacted their body shop people, and approved a repaint of the front bumper! Scheduled for next week. Honestly, the process was painless, they're even giving me loaner vehicle for the time I won't have mine!
Trust me, I know I got extremely lucky with this, but don't be afraid to try it yourselves.
I think if you had an issue like the yellow and early buyers it would be evident. Not that I've seen. I've gone over it pretty closely. I will say, I'm only in my second month of having it though, so we'll see if I continue to have issues.
Yeah, I think I can see a teensy paint flaw starting out under the forward edge of one headlight. This is a design fubar I guess. Most cars have them in some way or another. I'm not going to stress over it. A dab of touch up paint will hide it if it gets to be noticable. If I look hard enough at my silky silver’s one headlight corner and actually try to move the headlight by hand, I can see an area that has the potential to be a problem. It is honestly not at this point, but who knows what may happen. No signs of any other body issues that I’ve found so far.........

Now, now let's not upset diplomatic relationships. By the way are Pontiac people, people who eat lots of potatoes?![]()
I'm not sure how Kia could say the bumper doesn't need repainting either (then again, they're still saying only yellow). Me and several others have posted pictures of all the chips on our cars (I think it was @MicroBlue and me with all the tape?), and while the hood may be the single worse piece (maybe because it is thin there) the bumpers and doors have chipped plenty in their own right. In fact I'd argue the hood may be thin (my chips appear to be down to the metal there) but the bumpers and doors seem like they could be primer/paint related. I've found maybe a chip or two on the doors that looks like it could be metal, but most are "white" underneath, my hood looks like it's "silver"/metal.
How many defects did you have? Did you propose a solution to KMA?I also heard from my dealer today. Suppose to have a final solution tomorrow???
That was me that posted the problem on the roof ditch moulding (entry #911), and then PDXStingerGT (entry #918). I think the moulding is plastic, but the problem is with the rubbery-feeling strip that completely covers and holds the moulding in. When I looked at his picture again, PDX's almost looks like something chewed up the edge of the "tape" strip, and I'm almost wondering if this material is something that's appetizing to vermin, maybe birds. Kind of like the hoses I've heard about in engines that taste good to rodents. His damage and mine are in the same location at the back end of the strip, except that mine is on the passenger side, and his on the driver's. The rest of my strip, both sides, is flawless. I haven't heard back from Jamie at the Stinger line or my dealer, but she said she'd be back to me in a week, so I'm taking it easy until that time lapses.Haven't some people posted pictures of the strips along the top of the car? Aren't those plastic? Or the door handles?
I also have theses two. I believe I posted about them a few weeks ago. One is behind the front passenger wheel the other is between the passenger door and the start of the bumper. The 3rd one is at the edge of the top hatch of the trunk. 1st and 2nd places are much bigger now. I would take more photos but the dealership has my car for the next week to 3 weeks while KMA looks over my car and comes up with a solution. That was me that posted the problem on the roof ditch moulding (entry #911), and then PDXStingerGT (entry #918).
