V8 upgrade announced

Wow! I bet some people who's already pre-ordered V6 TT might change their mind and wait a little longer.

Wait a minute... That link is about a Hellcat V8. Is there a different link?

No. That's the joke. It's a crate engine, you could conceivably stuff it into any car with a large enough engine bay.

Haha I responded before I clicked on the link and thought it was an official announcement from Kia...what a tease! An April 1st on October 30th.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
KIA is planning on building a V8 model from my understanding (think M Division cars). I had read that somewhere, was announced by Bimmian himself if I had spelled his name correctly that is.

I think I speak for the forum when I say "citation please!". We've done a good job of compiling every morsel of news about Stinger, and aside from one short quote from an Kia Australia exec that seemed to have no substance at all, we've heard nothing of the sort.

I think you mean Biermann ? I'm betting they will do some higher performance version of the GT , BUT I think they'll retune the V6 TT , vs putting a V8 in it . The new M4 is now a 6 cylinder , they dropped the V8 and all the added weight , nothing like the sound of a V8 though ................unless its a V10 !

seems the nth american market is to get a 5.0l v8 version with the engine from the K900 car getting popped in , doubt it will be any faster but should have the nice v8 rumble

To be honest, I'm happy with the v6TT. I do love the rumble of a v8 but to make a medium sized v6TT that is 0-60 in 4.7 seconds? Yeah, there's enough Mustang and Camaro and truck v8s in my town already. Most everytime I hear one is because someone got one and then throws some kind of exhaust on it... Makes me want to scream out, "Nice car/truck! Now go get the exhaust tuned or put one on!" Don't get me wrong, there are several here that sound oh, so nice, with that grumble and rumble, even at wide open throttle, just that people here think the louder the better. I swear, people in my town think that a muffler delete = glass packs. They couldn't be further from the truth.

Yeah, I love a good V8 rumble myself. But I also hear some really great sounding V6s. Honestly, I don't even remember what it sounded like but the Buick Grand National sounded great. As does the Nissan GT-R. It's all in the tuning...

and a Turbo Porsche sounds pretty horny too !

Possible v8 is 3 yrs away nothing confirmed.
I imagine they may do something surprising with the mid-cycle refresh but I'll be shocked if they put a V8 in this car. We already hear about how the driving dynamics are better in the 2.0T because the engine sits further back in the engine bay and weighs less. Using forged internals, bigger turbos, etcetera is the way to go for both fuel economy and "brownie points" with the masses by avoiding use of a big, "evil" V8. I could be wrong but I'd bet money on a TT V6 as the AMG/M competitor when the time comes...
