As far as I know the large Kia dealer by me is STILL oblivious to any paint issues......headlights or otherwise. They usually have a few dozen sitting on their lot also.

I’m currently still awaiting a decision by Kia with regard to my Case. I am curious as to how they wish to proceed. Since I had the first set of pictures taken at the dealer twenty days ago, the paint has failed in other areas of the car. I was wondering if anyone in America with the Sunset Yellow Limited Edition has had this paint issue taken care of by Kia. How did they choose to go about it? I am worried because I bought the Limited Edition for the exact reason that it is Limited. And as I understood it, when a Limited Edition vehicle is repainted or made to be no longer “factory”, they lose value. Any insight concerning this matter would be helpful.

Any chance you can post pic and location of failure?

Well... I found a new spot that seems to be rubbing paint off. Passenger side, behind front wheel, Between bottom skirt and upper body.

Will a full car repaint be In store for all stingers at this point?

Sure. Once I get home, I will post a couple of them.
Here are a few of the spots. It’s a little difficult to see them, as several were hard to focus.

I wouldn’t worry about losing value. These aren’t Ferraris. Just get it to an acceptable and beautiful condition. That’s the priority IMHO.

Poll: total of 123 votes. "No - Without permanent protective coating: is pulling away ...

The ones in front are arguably road debris inflicted (any dealer is going to point to the location and assert as much). The others do look like "genuine" chips. :(
Yeah. The few on the front may have been due to outside influences, but they appeared after 500 miles, which seems a little soon for chips to be made in a city.

I do not show paint failure on my Silky Silver. But I have picked up quite a few very small nicks (mostly down low) on my front end in c. 4,700 miles. I'd say that the touch up pen has been applied over two dozen times. The nicks would not be visible on thicker paint. But because the paint and clear coat are apparently thin the injuries are easier to spot (to my OC eye, anyway). Tomorrow's application of the 3M film should provide the additional protection to stop the "casual" nicking.

I hate sales people. Especially car sales people.

Except you, of course, Jason..

Agreed, the first four pics look like rock damage to me and i live in AZ so have seen my fair share. First "Hood" maybe not depending on how high up the hood it is. The others, especially over the rear reflector, would be hard pressed to argue rock damage. Interesting on where your light is rubbing off as well. I will be going over mine again in direct sunlight this weekend.

(ETA: what follows is incorrect, the pic in question shows the forward end of the headlight, beneath the DRL strip.)

Yes. I thought that the rubbing was over the bumper, not the steel fender. This is the first pic I've noticed the paint failing under the rubber strip.

Actually, on second and closer look, i believe his rubbing on on the plastic bumper...i think that is drivers side inner corner, same place as mine.

Ah, yes it is. My mistake. The shadow threw my perception off. That is indeed the far, forward end of the headlight; the most prone to vibration, being the furthest point away from the secure headlight socket formed by the rubber strip around the headlight above the fender. The entire assembly forward of that is more or less suspended without support, as near as I can tell. So the movement of the bumper, especially one heated and swelled by the sun, will contact the paint and move there. It's only a matter of time. I see my first teensy lift of Silky Silver, slightly forward of where @BallsAwesome took his pic, also on the driver's side. The Stinger needs a design tweak to prevent this. I am surprised that in all of their thousands upon thousands of development/testing miles this did not crop up.

sigh, just looked over my car again, found 9 new chips and a paint bubble on the verge of peeling away. Still waiting to hear from KIA about my case.

Found more as well. The fender panels where the plastic meets the metal have basically no gap at all. This is causing them to rub and the paint to wear off in that spot.

Sounds like there are two issues here. Paint adhesion and a combination of paint adhesion and/or poor panel gap design. Paint ahesion can be fixed (to a reasonable limit) but these issues with gapping are far more concerning. Kia shouldnt be selling these, this is Lada level build quality.
