I've been lurking on this forum for awhile and been trying to find an owner's manual for the Kia Stinger in order to find more information about it as I find that the Owner's Manual is one of the best ways to learn about a car. I tried the Korean, Australia, and Canadian sites and was unable to find a owner's manual. Canada had a link to a 2018 manual, but it didn't work. I decided to create an account on Kia USA owner's site to see if I could get a owner's manual for a cadenza as I wanted to see if the Cadenza HUD had an option for a tachometer as I believe it is the same as the one for the Stinger. I was watching a German review video and I thought I saw a tachometer option for the HUD. I had to use a Kia VIN to register, so I used one I found on Autotrader. While browsing that site for owner's manual I came across the USA 2018 Stinger Owner's Manual. Since the file was too large to upload as one file ~ 15MB, I split it into 2 parts so you all could look at it without needing to register at Kia USA.

Some details I found:

1. Surround View Monitor is an option
2. Rear Seat Heaters is an option.
3. Wireless charging is not explicitly mentioned, but there is a picture that shows the button, and there is an error message that will display if the phone is not removed when the car is off.
4. No front cupholder cover
5. US model does not recommend towing at all, which I find disappointing. I was hoping that the tow rating would be the same worldwide. The capability to tow a small utility trailer would have made the car even more practical. Towing with it would likely lead to voiding of the powertrain warranty since towing is not recommended.
6. Drive Mode section is not very detailed. Maybe that will be covered in detail in a later supplement.
7. No tachometer option for HUD that I could find. :( I like the HUD tach on my C6 and hoped the Kia Stinger would have that as an option. The new 2018 Accord HUD has that option. A sport sedan should have that capability.
8. The Owner's manual does not have audio/navigation details and the Audio/Navigation Manual is not online for it or for any other 2018 model yet.
9. This may not be the final version as the car has not been released in the USA, but I wouldn't expect too many changes.

Maybe it actually will have all the options. That would be great. Good find!

Welcome aboard, @LSUgopher! And thank you for signing up. I'm sure there's going to be a thing or two that the Stinger leaves off the option list compared to the top tier brands. There's not a whole lot of wiggle room with some of these newer technologies and as this is a business for Kia, they need to ensure a certain profit for each model sold. That being said, this car is going to be one of the greatest high performance bargains of the decade...

I understand needing a profit, but they could always offer all the options and just charge extra for them. Seems reasonable to me. I'm not asking them to take a loss. Just offer me everything that they at least offer Optima users.

I hear ya and that would be totally cool with me. In fact, I often say that about Cadillac when they do stupid things like put cheap wheels on a base model and expect to compete with established brands like BMW. Cadillac always needs to put their best foot forward while they're trying to rebuild their brand.

But if you look around here there is a decent percentage of people unhappy with the price of a fully loaded V6 Stinger that was supposed to cost less than $50k. Can you imagine they added another one or two thousand to the price tag?

When I was watching last week the kia dealership set up for the commercial the director and a exec from kia talk about the HUD so I think it’s included in the GT2! :)

Do you think that if it turns out that some of these options truly are omitted from the US version cars, that they can be added as dealer-installed options? Like could I negotiate or pay extra for the dealer to install an OEM wireless charging pad after my purchase? Will they have access to those parts? Same with rear heated seats or 360 camera.

I bet the 360 Surround View camera and heated seats for the rear will be on the GT2 at a minimum since they are discussed as “if equipped” in the above attached file.

If they are not included on the US cars then those "parts" would not be in their system. You would likely have to go KDM (or maybe even a trip up to Canada) to source parts. They would then need to be installed (no service manuals in the US either so would likely have to source those with the parts). Who knows what ancillary parts you may end up needing (new body panels to add the extra cameras; new door panels in the rear to include the rear heated seat switches; etc.) as well. Then you would have to code the ECU for the parts to function correctly. Otherwise they may just not function and/or throw a code. Also, no warranty on those parts since they are not being used in their country of origin. All of this would likely be prohibitively expensive as well.

I know wireless is on it for a fact. Tethered is a link on this forum somewhere that shows it. I also ask the assistant director and he said yes. I’m sure the 360 camera and heated seats are on the GT2.

Bottom of this page: https://www.kia.com/us/en/content/v...-stinger?file=gallery_stinger_2018_interior_1

"The future of driving: with driver-focused features such as Head Up Display, and intuitive technologies like UVO, Kia’s connectivity system, and wireless charging."

There is also this from the owner's manual:

"Check Smart Phone Wireless Charger (if equipped)
If a smart phone is still left on the wireless charging pad unattended, even when the the Engine Start/Stop Button is in the ACC or OFF position and the instrument panel's one time driving information mode has finished, a warning message will lit up on the instrument panel."

With this note:

"❈For more details, refer to “Smart Phone Wireless Charger” in this chapter."

But this note leads no where as Smart Phone Wireless Chargerisn't mentioned anywhere else in that chapter.

Well, they shouldn't have made people believe they could offer something that they couldn't. Just my 2 cents.

Perhaps it works for them in the end. Perhaps that long table full of executives are making calculated decisions that none of us understand because we're not there. Let's see if the Stinger makes it to a second generation. If it does, then we know their plan worked...
