Interesting Discoveries Thread (Good or Bad)

and you can't do a burnout without disabling TC and SC..sorry, I just figured everybody disables both at the same time because either of them will nanny a burnout attempt.

I'll try a custom setup using sport with nannies disabled in a couple of hours. I'll report back how it goes.

I can tell you in my 2.0 RWD if I put it in launch control and keep it floored it does indeed power brake. It only does it for a few seconds then the rpms go down.

That would be awesome.. I'm wondering if I will be able to do that having AWD since sport puts 80% of the drive to the rear wheels. I will have to try that sometime also.

I had the air speed up high today to cool the car off after sitting in the heat all day. When I made a call over the Bluetooth connection, it lowered the air speed setting to a less audible level while I was on the call, then put it back up after I hung up.

And despite this, it's too dumb to display or read a txt message over BT.

Yep - even the base model Toyota can do that......so annoying (and expensive fines wise).

As most know, the radio volume goes down when you go in reverse. Safety preferably. I also noticed that if you open the sun roof, the a/c fan lowers in speed.
Lower volume in reverse is configurable in settings. I have mine turned off.

Does anyone know how to make 'auto-hold' function turned on all the time, instead of me having to press the button every time i get in the car?

Auto locking is only half implemented. If I get out of the car and try to open the rear door to get something out the back seat and it is locked one more time I will scream.

First, there should be an option to NOT auto lock the doors while driving. We don't all live in crime-ridden or paranoid USA.

Second, if the doors lock automatically when you drive away or engage a gear, shouldn't they unlock automatically when you do the opposite? Am I missing a setting somewhere to do at least this part?

I have door lock settings that can control all of this (GT Limited in Canada) - Door settings
lock: disabled, or when you shift.
unlock: disabled, when you shift into park, or when you shut the engine off.

Well, I have the same car and my lock settings do not include a disabled. It has speed or shift as the only two choices for mandatory auto-locking. Do you use disabled? Are you sure there is a disable option? If so, could you please record the version of your UVO software so we can understand which options are in which versions because KIA doesn't even seem to know half of this themselves.

I am thrilled if they have added in a disable option. As mentioned, haven't had a car in 20 years that didn't have that option.

Let me go back to the start of this conversation: When a phone is connected to the USB Port (for example, when Apple CarPlay is in use), what are some suggested techniques to assist in remembering to remove it when leaving the car?

Tie a string to your finger. Then tie the other end of said string to the phone. Leave slack for steering.

If your key fob does go flat, you can still use the NFC chip in it, you just press the key to the start stop button.

Then the immobiliser will turn off and the car will start.

I wonder how many people on here even know there is an actual key in the fob for unlocking the car. Lol
Let alone having to pry a piece of the door handle off to use it.

This is the 1st car I've ever owned that has the ceiling-mount sunglass compartment lined with fabric!

Every car I’ve had with it, has. Lens will scratch the coating otherwise.

I cannot set the heater to blow just to the feet. On the infotainment screen it shows the arrow to the floor board only but it blows the floor board and the front defroster also. There is another setting that shows the arrows on the infotainment blowing to floor board and the front defroster, which what it does. I want feet heat only!!!
I think the logic here is if your feet are cold, it must be cold outside and we need to keep the windshield clear. Very thoughtful engineering. E.

That is a setting. You can chose to lock on gear change or speed.

Just noticed yesterday that the front seat buckles have some felt on them.
That’s to facilitate and not scratch when the seats move back and forth. Especially with the easy access on.

I noticed that my spare, with the fancy wheel that doesn’t match my fancy wheels, is 18”. I’m guessing to compensate for the profile of the spare vs. the 19”.
Also, which Stingers get a spare instead of the inflator kit? Is it based on level or other reason?
