GT Limited on order !

Labatt Blue is right there with the local Saranac Brewery and come to think of it I do love my occasional trip to Montreal and Toronto.

When I asked them about how the pre sale was going they told me that 155 had been spoken for with deposits , there is an internal program they have called " Pre order Booking Process " and in it they spec out the 2 offerings The GT is ' STARTING UNDER $45,000- AND THE LIMITED UNDER $50,000 , they are asking for a $5000 deposit , who is your dealer and where >>

I went to Milton Kia. They asked for the $5K but I only ended up giving them $2K, no reason for them to demand such a high deposit without even seeing the product.

I agree , I put down $1000 , but they wanted a $5K cheque for the order , so I cut the cheque , the took a pic of it then ripped it up then sent the image in with the order .................

LOL that's hilarious. Oddly enough they wanted me to do the same thing... I suppose they could say the customer wrote a cheque for deposit? Nonetheless I'm looking forward to seeing the Ghost Grey GT Limited I ordered. Hope it lives up to the hype. I really need to buy snow tires for my Golf R but don't want to do it until I know if I'll actually buy the Stinger. Speaking of snow tires, we will need them for our Stingers when we take delivery... I need to figure that out too...

I initially ordered Ghost Grey ,I think the car looks better in lighter shades . But not having a real reference point I jammed and changed it to Thunder Grey , I've asked for clarification on which tire they have spec'd for Canada . I've seen test reviews for the GT where the tires were performance A/S and they were well rated . If they come with performance summer tires we definitely need to get new rubber for winter . I had a BMW 550 M Sport with Conti summers and you could not drive out of a flat parking lot !!! I had great luck with Conti DWS A/S on my last X6 and will likely take that route again if we get Summers for stock .

I’m still a little nervous about my colour choice! I don’t think you can go wrong on any of the available colour choices. I hope we get the Micheline summer performance tires, I would put snows on the stock 19” rims and buy a nice set of summer rims and put the Michelines on them. But we’ll see...

I think your color choice is very cool , and I'll bet I'll wish I'ld stuck to it , but we'll see . As for tires , I live in Vancouver so really good AS work . We have a house in Whistler as well at the top of a long steep hill and the Conti DWS were great , up and down . Also excellent on dry and wet . Where are you located ?

Located in Toronto, so we get lame winters with lots of ice and slush. A good performance A/S would likely be fine for me but I prefer having a true performance snow for the winter like the haka’s.

I’m going to call my dealer Tues and see where I sit in the queue!!

Agree , we lived there for 6 years and I would definitely get a winter set up . Tire Rack usually beat the Canadian prices , even with exchange and the border guards usually dont bother with tax

I had a somewhat different experience than you, westcoastGT. I ordered mine on Oct 5, but the dealer didn’t tell me what number (out of the 200) it is. I ordered a Limited, and was told I needed to give my top three color preferences. I chose Thunder Gray, Blue, and black. I had to give the dealer a check for $5000 to show Kia, but it won’t be cashed until I accept delivery of the car.

Do you know if there’s a way to check and verify the order has been placed? I’m feeling a bit concerned they’re scamming me, as you reported that there’s no more Limiteds available as of Oct 5th? Or did I misunderstand? I don’t see how they could have placed the order in that case, unless they ordered a plain GT, which I don’t want.

My dealer was able to confirm my order last week and told me that there were still about 25 left before they close the book , I'm sure if you speak with the GM he will be able to confirm , I had to place top 3 color choices as well but They havent confirmed if I'll get my top choice , I was Thunder Gray , White and Ghost Gray , honestly I would be happy with any of them , good luck !!

I have a copy of the Kia internal Pre Sale Program and Kia clearly states that 3 color choices and which of the 2 trim levels need to be prioritized and that the fulfilment process would do it best to deliver your top choice (color and trim ) but, that if unable, you would default to one of the others or your can forfeit the order and it goes to the next person ( assuming the program is over subscribed ) I agree , very clumbsy ! Thankfully the cars they make are much better than the dealers and regional marketing !!

I spoke to the sales manager this morning (an acquaintance of mine), and he assured me that the car was ordered. It’s the dealer’s first experience with such a process, so he’s feeling his way through it best he can, as we all are. He says he had a conversation with KIA upper management (?), and that they’re going to do their very best to provide the color of first choice, as well as trim level (GT/GT Limited). He says they received far more Limited pre-orders than expected, but they didn’t see a problem in providing that many. Guess we’ll see soon?

I’m feeling better about it this afternoon after speaking to the sales manager. The only question now is if they can provide the trim level I want (GT Limited).

I don’t care that much what color it ends up being. Only color I’d have troubles with is the red, and that’s because the wife says she won’t go for it if its red. I don’t know why she’s so opposed to that color. Probably because that’s the first color I’d choose? XD

Mine told me last week that early December is still on ................early Christmas present !
