Drivers seat - side scuffing badly

Was Looking to buy a GT2 soon also, but I’ve the same concerns now.
All my comparisons have brought me back to the Stinger, but real life issues this early in the game are causing me to reconsider.
At $50k this cannot be accepted and then have to deal second rate dealership experience at same time.
I' looking at jaguar xe s, Lincoln mkz reserve 3.0t, infinity q50 400 red sport, but they will all have to be heavily negotiated to get to my price point, haven't driven any, and stinger GT2 is the car I want I always say "it was made for me" it meets all my requirements except for these few flaws. Crossing my fingers for 2019.

For future reference, it would be helpful if those of you who report problems here tell us
  1. Nappa or otherwise
  2. color of leather
  3. how many miles (or months/weeks) you had on the car when the problem appeared
Thanks to those of you who've posted pictures.

I can imagine that being able to walk in with evidence that you aren't the only one with the problem might save a lot of service rep questions about what you did to cause the problem.

My black nappa seems to be holding up so far (knock on wood), but I'm guessing I have very few miles on it compared to most of you.

Good luck to you all, and please let us know how your dealer has corrected the problem.

My dealership's awesome. The only complaint about the car was the hatch rattle.

Do a survey poll. Then you can see the trend.

I always hated seeing "Leather Seating Surfaces" in vehicle descriptions. Vinyl on all other surfaces of the seat.

Why not use leather everywhere on the seats? Because the excessive abuse suffered by the sides calls for vinyl.

Kia actually went the distance and spent more by using real leather everywhere.

Some Porsche's are notorious for damaged real leather side bolsters.

I'm guessing Kia switches to cheaper, more durable vinyl for the sides.

Leather protectant and conditioner may help for now.

I still can't picture the problem yet, this is the side of the side bolster rubbing the car near the door pillar thing? Wouldn't it be possible to put something on the car to help it not rub? Thinking like a small microfiber towel to help act as a buffer. I'm not saying this is a great solution, or making excuses i'm trying to figure out a way to mitigate it.

Helpful information, but not what I want to put on a new $50 car.
KIA needs to issue an official recall and correct the problem.

Not going to lie I thought that was a elaborate sarcastic joke at first. Wouldn't it just be easier to stick something on the car where it rubs vs put something on the seat which immediately grabs people's attention? It is cool and kinda sad a product exists for this problem.

Is the problem the seat rubbing the car? I thought it was from drivers rubbing side bolster as they get in and out.

That's exactly it. Change your fat butt trajectory and land towards the middle of the seat. Once you landed, Rotate clockwise pushing with your left leg while right hand on steering wheel for balance. Repeat this step at least 20 x until you have mastered the manuver. :p

I don’t have issues with seat but with plastic that lines the b pillar. I wasn’t paying attention when seat went backwards for exit and think I had some jeans with rivets. Scratched b pillar plastic. Argh

I have 6,000 miles and black Napa looks like new. Ceramic pro has a leather coat they advertise as increasing durability. Maybe that’s an option?

Mine has 2500 km 5 months old and showing signs of wear.
I all so had leather protection done from new on black nappa.

Here a pic of what I am talking about.View attachment 6953
Looks like a combination of poor design (sticks out too far) and inferior quality of leather and thickness. Not acceptable on a $50k car (or any car for thy matter).

I would contact KIA corporate and see my dealer for a warranty claim.
Will only get worse!
