First flat tire on the Stinger. DC metro roads :(

Dealer would probably charge you a lot for the tire. I usually get my tires elsewhere like Costco or Discount Tire.

Make sure they know how to handle and reset your tire monitoring system if needed.

If time isn't an issue I would order a replaced online and have it shipped to a tire shop.

Contact Michelin. Depending on the situation, they may be able to replace the tire. If something was obviously hit with the tire, causing noticeable damage, I don't think they can help. Another forum user got a flat and Michelin replaced the tires. Depends on the situation. I assume you have the 19" wheels?

VDot, DDot and MDot have a number you can call to get reimbursed if you hit a pothole that has been called in. I believe if it’s been 24-48 hours past the time they first got a call about a pothole, you can be reimbursed by the state (district).

Was a giant screw in the tire. Was patchable. Went for a patch while I wait for the replacement from that online tire store

My Kia dealer told me about a damaged tire, take it to them and they would contact the tire manufacturer in order to validate the warranty....and they gave me a written warranty.

I get myself online tires .. way cheaper. But use a good source that guarantees non-stoneage DOTs etc. Also, not sure if you know, but don't mix tires on an axle .. usually requires replacing both to have a safe car (unless it isn't used up at all).

I'm dreading the first time I end up having to take the GW Parkway into D.C. with the Stinger. Those 19" rims probably aren't too pothole friendly.

I note the last commenter here (Davebo) lives in Rockville, MD. Well -- that's where I experienced a massive pothole in the middle of an interstate (I-270) earlier today. Doing the standard 60 MPH or so, I had absolutely no warning, just a massive thud, obvious problem, and then a perilous scurry off the highway. Pressure immediately dropped to about 6 psi, went down from there. Fortunately I managed to 1.5 miles or so to get it off 270, pulled to the side of a really busy secondary road, got AAA about 40 minutes later to get me to a very close dealer.

Tire totally shredded, rim clearly damaged. Appreciate any advice on what all else the dealership should check while it's in there.

Interesting comment from the guy at the Kia dealership (ironically, I was literally on my way there anyway to have my first service / oil change). Anyway -- guy said "this is like the third Stinger we've had in here in the past few weeks with blown tires." Is this a Stinger 'thing?' It sounds like it is at this dealership anyway!

Is this Herson's in Rockville or another dealership nearby? I work right near Herson's. Sorry about your tire. Was it northbound or southbound, local lanes or main ones? I'll have to keep an eye out.

If it's common with Stingers it's most definitely due to the 19" rims if that's what you have. I had 18"s on my Optima and still managed to get one bent in DC. Incidentally the ones who fixed it was the Wheel Ding King farther south in Rockville, who seemed to do a good job. I recently switched to my old 18" wheels with winter tires on the Stinger, but 17" is really what I'd prefer for the roads around here.

I drive the GW parkway daily as a part of my commute and I am in the left lane most of the time and they are some potholes there but they don't upset the car as much as it did in the S60. Those springs were firm and the recommended tire pressure was 39 all around, I felt the hit on that car, the Stinger, with the Nittos the bumps are better than the Michelins.

A similar situation but very far from MD, five months ago on a road without portholes but many stones of gravel or coal. Pass over one and get a flat tire, the front tire on the passenger side, Continental brand.
