Stinger cabin temperature

Pretty common for front engine v6 turbo that runs exhaust near transmission tunnel. All heat radiates up into tunnel. Probably most noticeable if you have been driving hard and then slow down without letting car cool down.

Pretty easy to self install some reflective insulation in tunnel - gold high heat stuff. It there are heater hoses they could be wrapped too.

Latest update on the hot transmission tunnel/ console area. I have taken my car to another dealer rather than the original one where i purchased the vehicle.
- Bottom line they believe after their check i have a valid issue. The car goes back on May 9th for a full check. Thats console etc removed. They said theres a possibility of them putting some heat deadening insulation in. Will post future details.

Great news, hope they find a fix for you, the most i have driven my Stinger is 15 minutes away, the only thing i have noticed is the extreme heat from the engine bay, when standing near the front of the car, i guess that is normal ?

When the car is driven for an extented period i find in outside temps of over 26c if the climate control/AC is not put on the transmission area is baking hot. Im told most people run the climate control on , this apparentely closes off a flap that stops the heat entering in. Both Kia dealership mechanics have recognised this. Unfortunately im a windows down sunroof open kinda guy, and while this lets heat out and in it doesnt cool my fried left leg.

With the A/C off, what temp do you set the climate control to on those 26C+ days? I would expect if you turn the dial all the way to the lowest/coolest temp setting, it should still close that flap. Maybe programming can correct that if it's an issue and not mechanically related to the A/C equipment?

You are correct if you have the climate control set to anything it apparentely closes the offending vent so im told. I don't have the climate control on at all and thats why im getting the heat.

So, you can just turn it on to the coolest (pass-through) setting with A/C off and your problem is solved...?

Yes thats what ive been told. And it was advised thats what i should do.

Good news, sounds like you are getting somewhere, was this done a GWK?

I am confused, then--what are you taking the car in for?
Ok, insulating heater core pipe and possibly transmission tunnel. Theyll tell me when they do the full inspection May 9th. I shouldnt have to run climate control to stop the heat. I will post outcome here. If still confused read from the thread beginning.

I did read it. I wouldn't bother with all that when leaving the CC on solves the problem. But you go for it if it matters to you. I only care that I can turn the A/C compressor on and off manually, but all cars have that capability.

Speaking of which, mine seems to turn itself on and off by itself. My ISG also turns itself on and off (indicated by the button light) seemingly not related to things that should affect it!?

Ok, latest on the heater core pipe heat issue. It went into the dealerships mechanic who had the car for two days. As said before this mechanic believed it to be an issue. Like last time - different dealer same result Kia Australia logged the complaint and will do F/A. I wonder if you bought a new house and the builder said 'best to leave the A/C on all the time"

Sorry to hear that both dealerships can't find an issue with the heater core pipe, so are they saying there is no issue at all with your car and the excessive heat in the cabin is normal?

This may have been brought up earlier, as I only looked back a few pages in this thread. I first noticed the heat issue when my map in Android Auto froze while exploring some local secondary roads. After pulling over and getting nowhere with the UVO interface, I pulled the phone out of the wireless charging bay and it was extremely hot - almost too hot to hold. The phone had locked up and was showing a message that only emergency calls were supported until it cooled down.

In the wireless charge bay it was too hot to hold your hand on the surface of the rubber pad in there. A/C had NOT been running, so I turned it on and the bay cooled off almost immediately.

As I don't want to run A/C all the time, I searched the forum and saw where member @moinmoin said he fixed it using the temp control on the rear seat climate panel. Mine was set at the midway point between the blue and red markings (not on full red/heat), so I dialed it down to the full blue/cold setting and the hot charging bay heat issue disappeared entirely - it now stays at ambient temperature without A/C running, and doesn't even get remotely warm. This is the other thread:

Hot transmission tunnel

If you haven't already, try rotating that back temp dial to full 'cold' and see if it works for you without the A/C engaged. I will be mentioning this to the dealer, as when winter rolls back around, I'll want the ability to use the rear seat area heat without cooking my phone.

I hadn't noticed excess heat on the side of the tunnel (on my LHD car), but if the plumbing is on the right side of the tunnel that would explain why - I'll have to check that area to see . The only thing I can think would help is additional insulation, but I'll see what the dealer has to say.

Picked up my Stinger in late April. Build date 1/18. Same problem but to a lesser degree. Center console storage area gets warm but not hot- so far. Obvious when taking keys out. This reminds me of my 2013 optima sx. Never had this issue in any other car. Just reminded also that optima had air cooled glove box. Funny contrast. Let us know how Kia fixes this problem.

I think the message was "live with it" unless they find more examples shown to them. As others have pointed out there is a way around it.:thumbdown::confused::confused: I don't think we've heard the last of this It can't be unique.
