2018 Kia Stinger Dealer and Mall Displays Full Listing (USA)

Sigh, the one color I like the best. Almost black in some lights, but deep blue in others.
Strange, why show/tease a color that won't even be offered? Since I know that it exists and they are showing it (but not offering it) here, it's really a major deterrent.
Not sure if I would settle or not. Guess I'll check to see if one is on display around me. At least then I could get a chance to see it in person and confirm if it is indeed the best to me.

Bummer. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news! Though take everything I said with a grain of salt as things can change right up until launch. Even if it's not a launch color, I'm sure they'll expand the color choice in the future as 6 colors is definitely not enough IMHO.

I also find it strange that they would have a showroom model in a color you can't get, equally strange is how the dealerships get the 3.3 V6 in Hi Chroma Red, and others with this color/engine.

Palm Springs Kia (Cathedral City, CA.) had a Deep Chroma Blue available. I was able to look around in the car and open doors, trunk, and hood.

What I was told is that the Stinger they had for show was a production model that is going to be shipped to the UK. They aren't allowed to have more than 10 miles (already had 7), so not even the dealership got to test drive it.

Two dealerships in the Seattle area, Performance Kia in Everett and Lee Johnson's Kia in Kirkland. I went to both today (09/24/17). They both have the same vehicle, 4 cyl with AWD and GT package, both in Deep Chroma Blue. Both are powered and fueled, you can even turn on the engine (for a brief period of time since both are indoors), just can't drive as the cars are Korean spec and thus not road legal. I want to share some thing I observed and/or learned from the salesman, though please take these with a grain of salt as everything is not finalized.

Exterior:
- The badges on the car are quite in-consistent. Kia badge on the nose, Stinger badge (E badge) on the steering wheel, and plain Stinger scripture badge on the rear. The salesman is not quite sure what the final US-spec car will have.
- The front bumper side vent and body side vent are both functional to cool the front wheels and breaks. The hood vent and rear side vent are for aesthetic purpose only and are not functional.
- There's tons of spare room in the engine bay with the 4 cylinder.
- There isn't a spare tire underneath the trunk floor mat. It's available as a add-on.
- The Deep Chroma Blue that the car is in is not available for the US.
- The 6 colors (all metallic) available for the US are:
- Pearl White ($300-$500 extra)
- Silky Silver
- Aurora Black ($300-$500 extra)
- Ceramic Silver
- Hi Chroma Red
- Micro Blue

See the colors mentioned by referring to the color charted posted by STINGER here: Color possibilities

Interior:
- Lots of piano black trims everywhere. There may be an option to switch to a different trim material (wood, metal, etc), not sure on that.
- Heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and heated steering wheel. The ventilation works quite well, though it was a sunny low 70s day, not sure if it will hold up on a 90s summer day. The heated steering wheel heats up the bottom 2/3 of the wheel, the top portion does not seems to be heated.
- Interior lighting will be LED based on upper trims. Illuminated foot-well for the front passengers.
- The passenger seats have some adjustment controls on the left side that can be accessed by the rear passengers. It moves the seats front and back and also adjust the seat back angle. Thought I'd bring it up since I never seen it on another vehicle before.
- Rear visibility is pretty bad. The C pillars are thick and the rear window is quite short.
- All 5 interir colors are availble: Black, Brown, Beige, Grey and Red, though I think some are exterior color specific.
- Cup holder with cover. The cup holes are assymetrical, with front one being larger. The front fits a 20oz double wall vacuum thermos with slack, and the back one fits a venti Starbucks cup snuggly.

Tech:
- There a compartment in front of the shifter with Qi wireless charger inside it. Works with my S8+, but didn't seem to be fast wireless charging. The recepticle for the wireless charges fits my S8+ with a slim case perfectly, and a Note 8 should fit fine too. iPhone 8 and X will also fit, but not sure about the 8 plus as that is quite wide.
- HUD works really well. It projects a foot or two in front of the nose of the vehicle, and you can change height, sizes, rotation and color of the text too. Also gives turn by turn and blind spot monitoring information, though I wasn't able to try those out.
- Android Auto works well, voice recognition is fast and responsive.
- The 8" infotainment screen is touch enabled, and there's no lag when swiping through menus. The buttons on the steering wheel doesn't seem to correspond to it though, so I think it's mainly a touch based system.
- The 8" infotainment screen and the 7" screen in the instrument cluster are dimmed together. There's a button below the driver side air vent that adjust the brightness in 20 levels.
- SD card based navigation. Though I couldn't try it out as the SD card is missing.
- Putting the gear in reverse engage the rear view camera and 360 degrees top view camera together. Dynamic turning guides for the rear view camera with proximity sensors.

Pricing and Availabilirty:
- Pricing is not yet finalized. Though I was told high 30k to 52k.
- Trim and packages are not finalized either.
- For the first round, the cars will not be sold under MSRP/invoice price. This policy is coming from the top and applies to every dealership. If a dealership sells a car under MSRP, they will not be allocated any Stingers from the next shipment. This policy may change however in the future (say 6 months after the Stinger has been on sale).
- One of the dealership (Lee Johnson's Mazda) is accepting pre-orders for December.
- The dealership will be allocated 5 cars in December. The next batch will be in January. If all 5 cars are not already taken by pre-orders, the remaining will be used for test drives. So the soonest test drives will be in December.
- Time for build to order cars to come in is 2 weeks (starting in December/January I'm assuming).
- All Stingers will be shipped from Korea.

Thanks so much for the details. I hope the dealer is wrong about the deep blue not being in the US, that was becoming my fav color. That would really suck since many dealerships seem to be getting this color to not offer it here. I've been told November and January sale time frames from dealers...Kia is really keeping the suspense going!

WOW! Something other than red or white! Nice color! A little to dark of a blue for my tastes but, WOW! Something other than red or white!

lol at the idea, "Let's showcase the one color that everybody wants and can't have in this region! Haha, suckers! You can look, but you can never buy it!"

The deep blue was number 1 on my list.

I’m hoping the dealers are mis- informed. If what the dealer in Palm Springs said is accurate, there is a lot of work to be done to move the steering wheel and pedals! : )

I was at the dealer yesterday and the deep blue is not listed on their internal site, at least in Canada. They only offered Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black, Atomic Blue, California Red, Ghost Grey, Thunder Grey. I chose the Thunder Grey.:)

Got one here at the Kia of Irvine, in Irvine, CA 92618

It's a red on red Korean model

Jim Click Kia on Wetmore Road in Tucson. A 2.0 (non-GT) Korean-spec Stinger in Deep Chroma Blue with black leather (leatherette? , can't tell). One surprise was how little rear leg room is when front seats are pushed all the way back; it took a bit of twisting to get out of the back seat, quite unlike my BMW 328d.

To my biased BMW orientation, a feeling of great material quality did not overwhelm when I sat in the car. The driver's seat is spacious, though. I don't insist that my cursory look is of any lasting value; I'll take another look in a couple of days.

The Chroma Blue is impressive and the fit and finish of the car is quite good.

It's been a mystery to me why Kia does not place US-spec cars as demos. Have they not begun building them yet? In which case, I don't see the possibility that the cars will be in the lots in December.A document I saw in the glove box was a letter from the EPA giving permission to Kia to bring in 90 VIN numbers to the US on the condition that they be not driven and that these cars should be destroyed or shipped out of the US after the demo is over.

Click Kia had no further information on pricing or date of availability. Another Kia dealership a few miles away (they had no demo) said they expect cars on the lot mid-November, but I don't see it likely.

More importantly, I get an uncomfortable feeling that the Biermann-Guillame effort in creating the Stinger will be screwed up by the Kia marketing geniuses. The way the option grades are reported to have been constructed, even safety items like LED lights are confined to the top end, at prices that will drive many of us away. I believe Kia's long term profitability would have been better served by less complicated option structure, thus keeping the early adopter enthusiasts in the corral. The cost differences over, for example, over a BMW 430 Grand Coupe, do not appear to be significant anymore.

After yesterday, I've begun looking at the BMW 430 GC as my next car. I have a faint hope that may be Kia will have a more rational pricing eventually.

The BMW 440i Gran Coupe starts at the same price the TT Stinger GT tops out at. Is it the lease incentives that are making the BMW a comparable deal?
No, it just a gut feeling I had when I sat in the Stinger yesterday. It just did not give me an overwhelming impression of quality ambiance. Admittedly I am biased as I always drove BMW's, so I will take another look at the car and test drive before I reach a conclusion.

BMW's pricing shenanigans are no better than Kia's , but there is a matter of familiarity with BMWs and their pedigree and history. Let me emphasize that these are tentative thoughts only.

Just keep in mind that you're used to driving the some of the very best automobiles produced. You're looking at what is probably 90% of what you would get in a BMW at a discount. I'm not sure what that discount is but I'd say you're not going to get an equal product right now. Cadillac has been making strides for decades and they're STILL not on the same level as BMW.

Galeana Kia, Columbia, South Carolina--he's right, it's pretty special.

For whatever reason, I really like watching them roll it into the showroom. I'd love if it we could have a thread of just showroom roll in videos. Hopefully all the lurking salesmen on the forum can help :)

There's a red Stinger at the Hendrick Kia of Cary (Cary, NC), not sure what trim as I looked through the window.
I also believe there's a Stinger at Fred Anderson Kia (Raleigh, NC) but was unable to see it because they "had just received it."
