Thought I'd start a new thread with a list of updates/changes in behavior that people have found for the new update.

It's largely a map update, and there's also a note that it updates the functionality with Android Auto and CarPlay, but I've noticed some behavioral changes so I'll start.

I'll be updating this OP with anyone else's finds so it's in an easy-to-find location.

List of changes with 122S5A:

- New "Tuning Knob" function setting: lets you choose what the tuning knob does while in the map, either change tracks/stations like normal, or you can make it zoom in/out the map (pretty useful IMO).

- Pressing the "Media" button while somewhere else in the system goes straight into your media Now Playing, old behavior was to bring up a "media selection" dialog, which was unnecessary, IMO. Good change.

Also, fun fact, the UVO system runs on a modified version of Android Marshmallow (6.0). The updater file is an APK and took a quick look at it.

I'm honestly not sure if this existed before the update, but I noticed some nice additions to navigation, the sidebar info section shows Hotel, Food and Gas Station options along the way:

If you check the Details box on top, it gives you options for every exit on a highway until the exit you'll be taking:

Seems like a nice detail.

4/10/2018 - Another small update, the "calculating route" popup on the map while it's doing the nav calculations shows your preference for avoiding travel methods (i.e. "Avoid HOV Lanes/Toll Roads").

I'm reading what you're saying but not equating them to functionality. OK, I'm skimming cuz I'm in a hurry. I'll be back to this. LOL

thanks for the info, curious is this an update you do thru the headunit in the vehicle or was it an online download to a flash media and installed that way? i've checked my UVO services online and it says no updates are avalable.

Well, I'm not exactly sure what they fixed with what they actually said they fixed, i.e. Android Auto/CarPlay. But there are other things I noticed, like what I listed in my post, that did change/get fixed, so I was gonna see if anyone found anything else, plus to let people know what I found.

Bit confused..this is an update?
I have had this feature from day 1.think all oz cars have it as direct from factory!

I always have my phone connected via bluetooth, so pressing the Media button's always brought me to Spotify or Google Play since I use those a lot. The tuning knob is interesting. I wonder if I have the update due to the Media button's functionality I experience. I'll have to poke around.

If you get the Map update from MapnSoft, it includes the UVO software update, but Kia said it'd be available separately for free. I contacted Kia Support to get the Map update for free, which also includes the software update. Here's the US link.

Which feature? It may be different in each territory, they may be normalizing the features.

That's probably why. I have my phone connected via BT, but I use a USB drive for playing music locally. Because I have 2 sources I can pick from, it would bring up the media box, with "Bluetooth Audio" and "USB Media" available to pick from. Now, it just goes straight into Now Playing and I have to press the Media button a second time to have that menu pop up.

If you had 1 source only, there would have been no reason to pop up that dialog, so it brought you into Now Playing anyway.

I don't think the map update is free using your own card. Is it? If you enter the bottom dot to cart it is still $149 to update your own card.

No, map updates are individually paid for. Some people have had success getting an updated map at no cost (at least on a reimbursement basis) when their car was supplied with an earlier version.

Yep, I contacted Micah at Kia Customer Support, and he was able to process a reimbursement for the payment. Some people just chose to get new cards sent for free. I chose to just wait the couple hours for it to download, was a breeze and I didn't have to wait multiple days to get a new card.

Gotcha-as mentioned in the other thread I was sent a new card. Talked to them on a Friday and received on the following Wednesday-after being told four weeks. Smart to under promise and over deliver!

Thanks! I wish we could just edit our own posts past a certain amount of time. :p
There has to be a time limit because eventually you run into a baby who posts 100,000 messages and comes back to delete every post because somebody called him a bad word - which seriously breaks conversations...
