Just wanted to hi to all members , after looking at about 40 Stingers on line and dealerships I finally took the plunge and bought a 2019 GT 2 AWD .
I couldn’t seem to stop looking at them and reviews of them. I was thinking Federation Ornge but bought a grey metallic with red leather interior.
Had only 67 K kilometres on it so they gave me the full two year certified Kia Warranty. So far so good just went in for my oil change today, changed cabin air filter. Shop says the car looks awesome
I’ll run with that, but here’s my first question of the day, they put a sticker on it that says my next oil change isn’t due for another 12000 kms I was always told the 6500 kms range.
They run Castrol oil at my KIA dealership.
Thank you in advance, I’m sure I will think of a lot more questions in the near future.

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. I'm glad you found us. Congratulations on your new Stinger! :) What did the Stinger replace for you?

When I first got my Stinger the service interval was set to 4K miles, because we live in a "harsh" climate. You definitely do. But when KIA changed to full synthetic - Mobil 1 here - I stopped worrying about the condition of the oil and now only change it every 12 months or 12K miles whichever is first. So far, it's been once a year. Unless you race on it, there is no reason to change out full synthetic any more frequently than that.

OK thank you for responding, still trying to fumble my way around this forum , hopefully up to speed soon!

I don't know my friend, but I've never gone 12,000 kms between oil changes, on any car. Personally I would never go that long.
I don't drive much anymore, as I am retired, so I do my 2 cars on a yearly basis now.
Prior to that, I went 6,000 kms, at the most, between oil changes.
My 2023 Stinger has just over 6,000 kms (3,700 miles), and I've already done 2 oil changes.

Yah thank you for clarifying I’m thinking along the same lines , thought I read on a forum somewhere 6500kms between changes. I’ve never owned a turbo charged car before , maybe a little paranoid, But for the price of an oil change and clean air filters I figure a lot cheaper than replacing an engine.

Paranoid..hmm. Don't be. This car gets hot though. Depending on how drive, IMO it is wise to get it done every 3k. Just my opinion.

I do the oil on mine with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum every 6 months and most of the time it only has like 4-5,000kms in that time...maybe not even that. Total overkill, but the inside of my engine is clean, the oil colour is still amber even after several thousand kms between changes.

Aha , that’s exactly the oil I used when I bought the car, just to start the process.
Any thoughts on 5W 30 vs 5W 40?
