$850 will buy ~3 batteries, figure ~4 yrs average life span. That's 12 years. Not sure I'll keep the car that long.

I'm still on the original battery at 4 years now. Don't drive much at all but do put it on the tender periodically (few times a month at least, more so during the winter). So far so good.

I came up with ~3 years for the AGM battery (what mine almost lasted) at about $200 per battery. I figure after about 10 years (the realistic max for a LiFePo4 battery) I'd be about 3 batteries in, so about $600 vs. ~$785 I paid for just the battery. For a upgrade over stock, that extra cost is within the realm of reason in my opinion; to wit: stock sway bars are like $256 vs ~$500 for Eibach sways.

I'm also aware that I might have just had a bad battery that for whatever reason had low car off voltage, so my results might not by typical compared to most owners. However, since I am the type who buys a car new and drives it into the ground, I probably will be still driving her after 10 years. So to me it was a solid investment running under the assumption that the battery will last 10 years as a daily driver that gets ~10k miles per year. Of course, YMMV.

I think it'll be interesting to see how she (subjectively) handles losing ~40lbs in the trunk and whether or not driving her mildly with that lesser weight translates into slightly better fuel economy.

So, for a year I've had this busted passenger side hatch panel. You can see the mostly broken end tabs. That's the new panel in place and my hand holding the old broken one. But dang it all, the new one wouldn't fit flush along the rear edge where it meets the main, rear panel. Since the KIA parts guy showed me how easy it is to get the front panel to unsnap with just using your fingers, I redid the install at home. The protruding upper corner is caused by a retaining tab on the rear panel which was bent when the passenger side panel got ripped down by luggage snagging the hatch cover cord. I twisted the tab back into position with pliers and fought with the fitment until it finally cooperated. 90% good as new, on the outside, which is all that counts.

The added bonus is that now I know how to get inside the hatch brake light housing - just undo those bolts and drop it. Maybe later I'll pull down that forward panel and drop the brake light panel and spray out the dust and bugs, heh.

My bro does the motorcycle thing. I'm glad he can do that stuff and is doing it while he can. Same with me; I love the long road trips so might as well do it while I can.

Pulling the original one out was a pain. I could do it myself, but I needed both hands to lift it out by the handles. It's easier moving my 100lb teeter-totter car lift.

The new LiFePo4 one I could lift with one hand and was easy to maneuver in.

Boy, have I had nights like that!

Unfortunately I have Android, not iPhone, so I can't help you with that. I'm using a Carlinkit AI box 8/128GB and I have Mando directly in Carlinkit, not on my phone.

So, I now have the Carlinkit TBox Plus working on my car and downloaded the Mando app onto it like I’ve had on my iPhone for years.

Everything works fine except I can’t figure out how to scroll the screen on this app (scrolling works fine elsewhere). I’d need to do this to enter my own settings but with the horizontal layout on the center screen, I’m just seeing the top third of the app and normal scrolling techniques get no response.

I’ll admit I’m new to Android (despite being a tech leader for decades - went for family consistency over device capability), and even newer (this week) to AndroidAuto and this implementation.

Any tips?

I know the Mando app well and what I want to do…just can’t get the screen to show the correct portion of the app…

i typically get 6-7 years or more with car batteries. i usually slap them on a battery maintainer from time-to-time to get them to a full charge ... they often don't get a full charge from daily driving, and lots of computers and electronics in cars gobbling up the juice ...

Installed hot and cold pipes today for the FMIC. I was lucky enough to put a custom order together to just get the piping without the intercooler from Maintec. Now those that will notice yes i have a 2.0, and yes thats a BMS intercooler for the 3.3 stuck up front. Little background i installed the FMIC over a year ago modifying the stock piping and brackets to work.
Also got the lower grill opened up some more to at least show my efforts .

There aren't any real options for the 2.0 so sometimes ya just gotta build it to work.

Although now one of my mirrors doesn't work. Passenger side works fine, not sure what's going on with the driver side. Anybody else done this and ran into that issue?

Yes, it's likely that the mirror is too far beyond the travel and is now stuck.

Happened to me, just take the motor out and you'll have to manually release it.

If you need more help let me know and I can do a pic dump but it's easy enough to figure out once you pull everything out

Discovered this, this morning. It's all I can see. It extends to the ridge below the pic. No paintless dent removal, I was told.
Agents of entropy, aka children, do this sort of thing, at age 4, 5 or 45. You don't think to check for open doors when your son is the older of those ages. The carport center post caught the inside of the open door and started to peel the door off. My son shouted, "Stop!Stop!Stop!NOW! - after contact was made, too late in other words. I didn't think that contact was made. I thought that he had warned me just in time. Only when I walked out to my car this morning did I realize that was not true.

If it came on when I was in reverse, I didn't see it. I was already watching my driver's side mirror as I angled back out. It was such a stupid combination of conditions I can't wrap my mind around how it was even possible. Except that my aged agent of entropy son makes these things happen.

edit to say, I reproduced the scenario, opened my RR door, both front doors, my wife closed hers, I closed mine, started the car, of course the open RR door icon appeared on the LCD screen, put it in reverse, navigation screen of course showed the backup camera view, started to back up watching my rearview side mirror, and glancing at the backup camera view - and don't even notice the LCD at all doing that. So, that explains why I failed to notice the LCD showing the opened door, but, it does not explain why I didn't notice that my son never closed his door at all. That was a major brain fart moment!? I am so pissed at myself. My son was completely to blame for setting me up. But I expect better of myself, my awareness, when I am starting to drive my favorite material thing.

I've already got an estimate of $1,500 to $2,000 dollars. Was hoping for paintless dent removal to the rescue. But no dice. Then, later, I noticed that the top corner of the door sticks out c. 1/16th of an inch, I can push it in, and when you shut the door there is a tiny momentary rattle - PDR wouldn't address that. Of course being bent forward enough to crease the door skin would result in a bent door frame too. That will bump the cost up even higher than the repair of the cosmetic damage. I have $500 deductible for collision, which covers this. But dang ...
