When I’m listening to music in CarPlay and then switch to the radio the volume is much louder.
Anyone come across this?
Thanks.

Your phone might have a separate volume for bluetooth or whatever audio output tech is being used in the phone. I'm android so can't help with specifics, other than what I describe is a thing with smartphones. The car head unit may also have settings specific to the audio input, dive into the menus to be sure.

I don't use Carplay, but I have noticed that volume can be all over the place depending on the volume of the source file/stream.

I normalized a lot of my older mp3 music so it's only slightly less loud than terrestrial radio or XM.--about one volume notch above the radio volume. Most of my newer music is about the same overall volume as radio. A few of my older comedy albums that I ripped from vinyl are really quiet because the original mix didn't have a lot of compression between the loudest and quietest sounds. A lot of my wife's music is really quiet. When using AA rather than Bluetooth it is slightly less quiet than radio--like one volume notch overall.

I think another thing that might cause an issue is if your phone volume and your car volume aren't synced--like if you can control your phone volume independently from your car volume.

The Bluetooth thing with Android is what I have. Which is why I plug into the USB to USB-C to my phone and no worries back and forth radio to phone media.

The car remembers the volume for each input. If you change inputs it will revert back to the volume used when you were there last. For instance If I was listening to AM radio and turned it way down, then went to FM and listened at a higher volume - then went back to AM, it will be low again. Maybe it does this also for Carplay?

This is true--even between terrestrial and satellite radio.
