Good Morning All,

I am the orignal owner 2020 Kia Stinger GT-1 panthera black and i need some answers. On 5 July i dropped off the stiner to the Covina Kia for a safety recall of the turbo hose. It took them 5 days to get this right, could not get the air out of the system.

After 5 days at the dealer i picked up the car and in August we had a cool morning i needed to defrost the windshield, no heat. Returned to dealer had air pockets again. Waited three weeks on a cool morning no heat again. Returned to dealer air pockets again.

One weeek later needed heat none. this time the dealer nor the service manageer will return my calls and had to make an appointment three weeks from now. No heat cars windshield will not defrost, only worsens with cold air. My Stinger was 100% perfect and after the recall where they did drain the radiator and supposedly changed the thermostat my Stinger does not produce heat and when checking my radiator i am low on coolant.

Does anyone know what dealership in southern California they can reccomend to fix this issue since Covina cannot and does not care. I love this car but need heat and air pockets are not going away

To continnue this thread Kia Care cannot do anything as they tell me the dealers are franchisees who do what they want and Kia the parent lets them so dont call Kia care for support, none provided.

There're threads about bleeding the coolant system on this forum. Just takes time. But still, will take A LOT less time than driving from dealer to dealer. Looks like a lot of them can't even do simple task these days.

Bring the car to a competent mechanic and send kia the bill. You do have paperwork for each of their attempts, yes?

Or do it yourself with a bleed kit (lisle bleed funnel).

That was a first thought but need to know who knows how to do this right TY

Holy crap, this is ridiculous reading. IF they changed out the oil feed pipe, and can't even get air out of the cooling system, what makes you confident that they disassembled the left side and put everything back together right? I wouldn't just get someone else to bleed the air out, I'd have them inspect the rest of the engine affected by this recall. Sorry to hear that the dealer you dealt with is so incompetent and rude.

My #1 mistake was going in for the recall! I agree and i need to fiure out how to fix, winter is coming to southern california and i will need the heat. Here is an odd thing from yesterday, driving on freeway 30-35 and suddenl the needle hits H and the display reads engine overheating. Immediatly fan on high settings to hot and the needle goes back to normal. Once home and 2 hours later check the overflow for the radiator, empty and the radiator 2 inches deep dry. No leaks anywhere and the car performs so where the F is the water going. The service manager gave up on my car, TY

As I understand this from reading, air in the system prevented them from completely filling the system, so, you aren't losing coolant, it was not there in the first place. Eventually, running and filling will effectively bleed the air out, but it can take a while and be an enormous hassle. At least you knew what to do to get the "HOT" to drop. Now, top up your radiator and add coolant to the overflow tank to the indicated OK level. And watch for this to happen again, but probably not to the same degree of missing coolant.

I'm still surprised nobody has a simpler procedure than "just drive around til it works its way out". Surely there's some combination, like "idle to temp, jack the passenger rear side up, and then turn the heat on max", that will let trapped air work its way through quickly.

Oh, wouldn't THAT be a warranty claim, after the dealer did the recall as recommended? How would KIA approach that one?
It probably would. After waiting who knows how long to get new engine, just to get it installed by the people who couldn't even fill the coolant. And good luck trying to get a loaner from them.I don't know why would anyone wanted to take that route.

Oh yes under warranty but when you return to a dealer three times they turn there backs to you and say start over, make an appointment and Kia Care cannot help us. Long process and as someone said earlier go to a place where they know what they are doing. Even the service manager said he hates doing these Stinger recalls because they are not paid enough, book says 3 hours but he said it really takes five, dealer loses money. Love the car and other Kias as well but the service is below average

Maybe time to contact Kia Corp about the ignorance of that specific dealer?
