Just purchased pre-owned 2023 Stinger GT2. While at the dealer, I noticed that the plastic piece that houses the front collision camera in the windshield, near the rear view mirror, was hanging down. Down. The salesman clipped it back in and now it's falling back off again. I can't get it to stay in place on all four clips. Is there a trick to this? I noticed that there's a strip of sticky tack on one of the sides of the housing, inside of it. Not sure if it's supposed to be on All sides. Can anybody help me out with this? It seems like it just slips back over the clips but only the rear, closest to the the mirror, will stay put.

"Collision camera housing?" Is that what that thing is? I thought it was the guts to the rain sensing wipers. Oh well.

When I bought the car used, I looked down in the cupholder and said, "What is this?" A flat, rectangular piece of black plastic with four clips/hooks, one near each corner. When I went to tighten the rearview mirror, well that's where it goes. My flashlight revealed the hole, with circuitry.

Before my solution, the longest I could get that panel to stay in place was three days. I'd come out and find it in the cupholder, or on the seat or the floor, and once in the narrow space between the passenger seat and transmission tunnel. And once I looked for a good long while and finally found it in the pocket of the front passenger door - evidently one of my wife's friends had seen/sat on it and moved it there. All very annoying. I could not, like you, push on it hard enough to secure the hooks, even when it sounded and felt like they were snapping into place. A design flaw.

My solution is a strip of Gorilla black tape. Before that, I used four pieces of Scotch gloss finish multi task tape around the edges. But that got a bit compromised in the heat. The panel didn't fall out/off, but I had to periodically press everything back up nice and tight and thumb the tape back down securely. I think the Gorilla tape will be good for a long time. And if it starts to let go, I'll just clean up with isopropyl alcohol and apply a fresh strip. Should be good for many months, if not forever.

Yes exactly that! So it doesn't just clip back in? I'm right in that the strip of New credit card glue/tack was holding it in place? Just sucks to have to tape up something in my car I JUST -)& 3 days ago. Used yes, but not very. Well okay thanks for the response! Glad I'm not the only one! Do you think gorilla sticky tack will work?

I don't understand why the slide clips aren't holding it up completely..

I think that some vehicles have the "guts" in that hole not as well assembled and they stick down slightly, thus causing pressure on the back side of the panel. I don't know what else it could be. And it must only affect a few vehicles, or else there would be a TSB on it, or even a minor recall, if the panel fell off most or all cars. They would have fixed it at the factory going forward. Obviously, from at least 2019 - the age of my Premium - to the end of production, KIA didn't resolve the issue.

You use glue? I don't want anything getting in there. That is why I resorted to tape. Being clear, or black, it doesn't show up.

Okay, yeah I don't want to put glue in there. I have this Gorilla brand sticky tack that works great for mounting almost anything. I'll try that first being I have it, but I also don't wanna see it through the outside of the windshield. You're talking about a double sided tape? Or taping the outside edge?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
I've taken mine off a couple times, shouldn't be any glue or sticky strips on it just Clips in there there's one smaller piece that comes off of around your mirror.

I just put four strips of Scotch clear multi task tape across each edge and it held the pesky thing in place for months before the tape finally started to get unsticky. I replaced it with Gorilla black duct tape, a single piece across the panel. I can't even see it unless I shine a light on it.

Why did you remove it?
