Hello everyone,

I don't know if this subject has already been discussed, but do you use additives that you add to your petrol?
for example to maintain the turbo or clean the injectors?
I never knew if these products were really useful or not.

(Kia sintger premium 2018 2.0 86 000 miles)

Only been discussed 3,502,335,440 times on various car forums (including this one).

Since you're not intersted in searching, the short answer you can't trust because who am I(?) is the fuel injector additive like gumout or tekron is all that's needed with these engines. The frequency of adding this is up to car owner preference, driving style, and specific engine/mods/etc.

If you're the original owner at 86k miles, you might want to have the backs of the valves cleaned by a local shop (walnut blasting is still the best method). If you bought it used, maybe check the paperwork supplied to see if the prior owner had this done [but it's not a common, oft skipped, service at roughly 50k miles].

Changing your oil regularly and filling it up with good quality gasoline will do a lot more than any of the snake oils.

Direct injection engines don't benefit from fuel additives as much as port injection engines. The only things that could be cleaned are the injectors, which aren't nothing. Still, you'd be better off worrying about getting gas at a busy gas station to make sure you're feeding your car fresh fuel.

Kia adds fuel injector cleaner at every dealer service of 10,000 kms and uses an engine oil flush at each 10,000 kms

The local costco gets 3 fuel deliveries daily. With the additional added pump (40 total?), I imagine that will probably be 4 deliveries. Run premium and call it a day.

just as a point of reference, I had an 03 accord that I ran to 280k miles and I never once used any of those products and the car got essentially the same mileage as when I bought it used with 30k on it.
That tells me those things don't do anything.
The only meaningful change from the engine was it went from burning no oil per 5000 mile interval to burning about a quart per 5000 miles.

This must be dealer specific, or country specific.

Anything you put in the gas tank, hopefully does not ever touch the turbos!

It is part of the official Kia dealer servicing in Australia in the list of items they perform every 10,000 kms.

It seems Kia thinks it a good idea.

Fuel injector cleaner is going to resist those fuel injector failures at 80,000kms.......

Kia has a 7 year unlimited km new car transferable warranty here and are minimising what is going to go wrong in future.
