I want to get an exhaust to make the stinger a little louder. It’s a GT1 so the 3.3tt. I don’t want something too loud but loud enough to sound good and turn some heads. Thoughts?

Welcome! Just letting you know that this topic is being moved out of the community lounge and into the Stinger exhaust forum.

I'm in the same boat. I want a bit more aggressive but not obnoxious. There are several videos on YT from brands like MBRP, Borla, etc. To me, several of them sound the same or close to factory. Sounds like you may like chambered exhaust. I may try the super 44s from flowmaster.

Yeah I have seen a lot of videos about those as well. I know exhaust sounds very different in person compared to in video.

The MBRP are affordable (relatively) and give you a deeper sound than others, unfortunately the stingers don’t sound all that good with exhausts imho, but that’s all a matter of personal preference.

The Jun Bl EVC Performance Catback Exhaust System is by far the best exhaust for the stinger, again in my opinion. It sounds like a race car without the rasp. It’s like $2,800 just for the exhaust before installation if you’re paying someone to do it so way out of my budget right now.

I’m going with primary HFC downpipes only, ordered the NGT ones. I’m tuned so maybe I’ll get a little performance out of it, I’ve heard they don’t add as much performance when you’re running CPI and BEF, some of the fastest stingers don’t have PDPs. I’m looking to increase the sound by around 10-15%. I want a little bit more sound but I don’t want a cat back, anything I’ve looked at, to me, was either too loud, too expensive, or sounded like a struggling lawn mower. Maybe if it’s not loud enough I’ll go secondaries since NGT makes those as well. But leaving the cat back alone.

I agree with you. I don't like any of the cat backs sounds but I will be getting a JB4 and got mods

I can just get the downpipes upgraded = bit louder but also great for extra air flow and performance? Or will this still be too restrictive at the back end

I heard some YouTubers doing if this way with a lot of their cars

When I was originally buying this car all I ever heard was “Downpipe and a tune.” Now that we have years of documentation, downpipes won’t “add” as much power if you’re already tuned and running CPI with an ECU or Back End Flash (BEF). I’m getting my HFC NGT primaries from Lap 3 and not expecting much in the power field with my build, but do want a louder exhaust note without the rasp. My BEF has “light burbles” but with stock turboback at this point I can’t hear a thing. Maybe the DP will help with that too!

PSA: no one wants to hear your car, except maybe you. The only heads being turned are giving you the stink eye.

Some people don’t even want to hear their own cars and go back to stock

How much was the jb4 for you? Including all the extra parts needed to keep up with the tune?

Exhaust is a very subjective mod since we all have different opinion of what we think sounds good. Some love it stock some love it loud. I know our cars don't have the best sound with a v6 tt engine sadly.

You can always just keep the stock catback and add secondary DP from ARK/jun bl and see how that will be. I was stock for over 2 years never did a single mod. If you just do the secondaries, it will just be barely any louder but at least won't sound too much like a dyson vacuum. I started with stock, went mbrp pro, then borla, then ark with borla, now ark with borla active + apr wireless valve controller. So far probably my favorite mod I did to my car. I absolutely love the way my stinger sounds now and I can make it be very quiet as well! I couldn't stand the stock exhaust, so god damn quiet and I sounded like a dyson vacuum going down the road.

When I had my borla non-valved on my 23 GT2, i added the ark DP after I enjoyed the stock secondaries. It made a huge difference. Much louder cold start, louder & more burbles, revving you can hear the turbo spool more, also turbos spool up a bit quicker, gunning it gets super loud and aggressive. But now with the borla active catback I can close the valve and make it much more quiet. Best of both worlds whenever I want it.

Also from what I've seen and heard, most that do primary DP get a REALLY raspy sound, but get some performance increase. Plus they are an absolute pain in the ass to install. I am sticking to stock DP until I really need to change them. I posted some videos of my setup in the exhaust discussion if you want to take a look to give you an idea. Happy to answer any questions you have! I went through an interesting exhaust journey myself so while it was expensive, at least I am much happier now with my setup! Heck even the wife approves!

I would just do primaries and the Tork 4" oval mid

Anyone have catted secondaries?

I went with the JUN BL EVC Performance Catback and it sounds really good. The great thing about this is that you can turn it off and it sounds just like stock system(if needed) Got it slightly used and did not pay the full 2,800.

I had the JUN BL EVC and didn't think it was that great. In quiet mode it was quiet just like factory. In loud mode at low rpm it sounded really rattly to me, like something was loose but nothing was loose. It did sound good at high rpm (like 3-5k)
But still the loud mode was moderatly louder than stock so it was pretty underwelming after installing it and finding it to be just a "little" more aggresive.

+1 for MBRP
