So this isn't the rear hatch trunk rattle issue. The Mrs has mentioned on numerous times that when she's in the garage or sitting outside she's heard my car make noises when it's sitting, parked not running. She thought it was coming from the trunk. When I've tried to listen for it I couldn't hear it, until yesterday.

The noise sounds like it's coming from the rear hatch potentially. Almost like some kinda power noise where you'd put your hand to open the hatch. I have a base gt so I don't have the smart trunk. Anybody else experience this noise before?

Lol! Maybe what she's hearing is contracting metal - hot exhaust will make crackling like sounds when cooling down.

Yeah I've heard it before. Lasts for a 1-2 seconds. A robotic whirring noise. Not sure where it's coming from. I've never bothered to find out.

Just the car doing its thing. Nothing to worry about.

Wow! What's the story behind those pictures?

And OP, we highjacked your thread, because we've got nuthin'. But the longer it stays bumped the better your chances of getting a serious suggestion as to cause.
You made the reference!! Watch the movie. It's an old classic.

Yes, that it it! Sounds like it's coming from the hatch area potentially? Literally just heard it a second ago after I just finished vacuuming the carpet. I'm surprised nobody else has heard it.

It's definitely not hot exhaust noise. Car has been sitting all day since 7am this morning, hasn't been driven.

Are you saying that is The Christine? I though it was a restoration disconnected from the movie car but probably in homage to it. Sort of like this one.

OP question, is it possible that the parking brake is being applied and heard from outside?

So the parking brake randomly makes noises on its own?

^^Is that what it sounds like? Yes, parking brake would make a sort of whirling noise.

Do you normally set the parking brake? Did you do anything that involved touch the center console - idle start stop disable or anything else? The electric parking brake switch is in the vicinity...

I always press the stop/start button every time I drive, don't think I've used the parking brake but one time. When I hear the noise it's only when the car is off or is parked, my driveway is a tiny bit of an incline but not enough to ever use the parking brake for.
