Bought my 3.3 V6 Stinger in 2018 when it first launched in my country. Currently 140K KM mileage had a funny burning oil smell at first then a lot of smoking coming out from the engine. Just checked today it was the turbocharged oil feed tube pipe. Anyone experienced this? Where can I find this part? Ordering it from the Kia dealer will take 2-3 months god knows why it’ll take them that long

is the pipe broken/cracked? or just a gasket leaking?
Any pictures?

Will show once my part arrives and the mechanic removes it

I am very curious how the oil feed pipe might have got damaged enough to leak.

Looks like 3 of the 4 joints for the oil feed pipes use banjo bolts, and there is only one different style gasket on the left side feed pipe, engine side, #5.

How often do you change oil?

so here’s the failed turbo oil pipe feed. Not sure how it got burst but after replacing it with a new pipe, my stinger is all good to go no more leak

So its a braided flex pipe underneath that heat wrap? Is that where it failed? I hate those braided steel lines they always seem to eventually cause failures.

Yep that’s what caused my major oil leak. At first the mechanic thought it was the rocker gaskets after replacing the gaskets and clean up the oil turn on the engine it was the turbo oil feed pipe. I was wondering if I could upgrade and make a custom pipe just to replace the oem part atleast for long term perhaps

Wonder why Kia engineers added the flex pipe on the left side feed pipe, since the right side is 100% rigid.
Odd design to use a flex pipe there IMO

The left side is much longer than the right so maybe they were concerned with too much thermal expansion and the flex-portion helps compensate for it.

How did your mechanic remove the nuts behind the block? I know kia says the whole motor have to be dropped but ia it possible to change the pipe without dropping the motor.

Mine just went out too. Ill let you know what the mechanic has to do to fix it.

So kia has to remove the whole motor to replace a turbo feed line?

Where did you notice your smoke coming from in the engine bay? I’m having a bit of smoke coming from the radiator/fans and i can smell burning that reminds me of Vaseline or something when I turn on my cabin fans on full blast. I’m at about 160,000km.

Yup i noticed when my wife pointed out white smoke on the left side ( Driver side ) when she took my stinger to work long story short i took it to the dealership where they told my it was the turbo feed line and some gaskets charged me 5k, 2k in just labor ( 12 hour job ) cause they have to remove the motor to get to the line and the gaskets told me itll be atleast 3 weeks till i get it back

So a recall just appeared for the driver side turbo oil feed line.

Did they drop the engine for that repair?

Is this covered under powertrain warranty?
It's a recall, not a tsb. Warranty or not they will fix it free of charge.

The only question is what will be wrong with the car after...... Usually the nhtsa will link documents outlining what the repair will consist of, so it will be clear if they need to drop the engine or not.
