Jerky/rough 1-2 and 2-3 shifting

At least for me, it’s a once every 8 to 10k mile sort of thing. Since it takes all of 30 seconds with the xtool instead of having to go to the dealer, to me it’s worth the price of the xtool since I can use it for many other things.

After resetting with the xtool, did you immediately try driving the car to test it out and feel a difference?

Just purchased one for myself and performed the adaptive values reset. Drove and tested it and it felt fairly similar to how it was driving before, maybe a slight improvement. Although, the problem always seems to be the worst on a cold start in the very beginning of my trips. Curious to see how it behaves tomorrow.

I have never had to do the reset....I drive like a grandpa ( I am)..lol
I bought mine (A30M) for all the other stuff I do.

Yes, it was immediate. But most of my rough 2-1 downshifts are when the car is cold. Like the first time I’m slowing for a stop sign.

So far I have not had to make any further resets, but it hasn't even been a full month yet.
I just ordered the tool for my 22 Stinger. Was wondering if if got rid of the issue for good for you?

I got the tool. Registered it, did the updates but it not giving the option to do the adaptive reset. What am I doing wrong?

Go to special functions, gearbox match, kia, manual selection, 2020 stinger....2022 wont allow it yet. An update is coming soon to allow it.
The update should be out soon I heard.

So the Xtool A30M seems to have corrected the issue. I can’t say that the harshness is 100% gone but it is significantly better. This tool is the way to go if you’re having this issue.

WHAT YEAR STINGERS WAS THIS MOST PREVALENT?

I PICK UP MY 2020 STINGER MONDAY AND WONDERING IF THIS IS SOMETHING I'LL NEED TO BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR?

mine is acting like it’s disengaging when shifting from 2-3, and 4-5. Like I lose power and revs go up and then it gets into the next gear. Same thing or something else you guys think? I have a tork stage one tcu.

I’ve had this issue since I purchased my car and fixed it.

Went to dealership about it, tried to diagnose it myself, even did multiple learning readaptings. It always comes back.

Wanna know what fixed it for me funny enough? Changing my oil to 10w30 and correcting the fill level to OEM spec.

I don’t know why this solved the issue for me but I have a few suspicions and it all falls on the circus that is a Kia dealership.

The main discovery I learned with my DIY oil change is that the two Kia dealerships I rotate between for service has been consistently overfilling my engine going back to the last three oil changes at least (didn’t check levels after for those prior).

When i actually performed my own oil change and drained the oil and actual filled my oil to the correct level all of my downshifting issues disappeared. The car and engine also feels MUCH BETTER.

We all may know this but it needs to be said again because it’s this bad. Kia didn’t deserve to make this car, their dealership network is wholly inept. Unless you are doing warranty work. Do not go to a Kia dealership for servicing this car. They will f*ck your shit up.

I always make sure they don’t overfill by providing the oil myself and making sure I only give them 5.5qts of pennzoil euro L so they can’t overfill, unless the tech is foolish enough to continue adding oil from their stock after they’re done adding the oil I provide. I then double check the level after I get home. Before I started doing all of this, I had to drain excess oil twice.

this 2-1 downshift nastiness also seems to aggrevate if I don’t wait for the transmission to fully shift from N or R to D before I take my foot off the brake pedal. The digishifter makes this difficult because there‘s a significant delay between you putting the stick in R or D before it actually shifts.

I can confirm that the xtool A30D does NOT work for this for 2019 3.3 stinger. I bought it and am disappointed. It says function not supported for gearbox match.

I ran it on my 2022 last January, for the 2020 model. At the time they hadn't added 2021 or 2022...said they were coming but no timeframe.
