Hi Stinger fam, I have a 2019 Stinger GT and the seals around the sunroof are cracking and disintegrating. I've attached a couple of pics. Does anyone know if this is covered under warranty?

This would be covered in the USA only to 60 months or 60,000 miles. In Aus it is less, I believe. I've not seen/heard of this particular degradation before. Is your car out in the sun all the time?

I would expect the dealer to blame the use of harsh cleaning chemicals
I wouldn't expect Kia to agree that the damage is material related.

Hopefully those trim seals are not very expensive.

That's some nasty seal wear.

I've owned several cars with sunroofs and one with ttops. The latter was a camaro I had from '98 through 2011. When it finally left here (on a tow truck because all engine/trans gaskets were leaking including a brake line). The windshield and ttops were still intact.

Do let us know what the dealer says...

I recommend using Gummi Pfledge Stift to protect exterior rubber seals:

Are you sure it's not from birds/crows picking at the seals? Do you park your Stinger outside a lot?

That's pretty random. Made me chuckle. I just drove under two of the largest gaggles of starlings I've ever seen - I assume they were starlings, but whatever, hundreds of birds in a pack swooping over and landing on either side of and in the road. I did not escape. If any birds were pecking at "tasty" rubber seals on the roof, there would be bird crap to go along with the outrageous damage.

I ask because another Stinger owner had the exact same issue and he captured video of the Crows pecking at it. But I agree. No poop :poop:. No crime

Hiya. Did you get anywhere with getting this fixed under warranty or at your own expense? This has certainly happened to mine too (I’m in the UK), it’s certainly not from being pecked at or over washing/chemicals etc etc. Mine has occurred on the front piece all the way along but not at all on the other side/back pieces.
