I think Kia was caught in the middle of the transition to electric. If they had released the electric Stinger as shown say early 2022 without having ever released the petrol Stinger in 2017 it might have taken off.
Instead, they had the early version Stingers then went into covid and emerged as electric vehicles took off and they weren't ready. They have raced to get the EV6 out and no-one's buying. I haven't seen one on the road in 11 months.

It's like all these mobs. Nokia, Blackberry all world leaders then when the next technology came they fell apart. They did not predict the future.

I see the Stinger saga differently. Long before covid, the Stinger promo book showed a preview of Kia's plans to go electric. They have not been caught by surprise, well, other than the lackluster interest generally across the entire EV spectrum. Kia's plans for EVs have been in the mix for years. But now, along with every other manufacturer that looked like investing billions in their EV plans, Kia is moderating and rethinking "how much" EV. The Stinger isn't canned because of lackluster sales. It ran it's course, showed what Kia can do, and will remain a triumphant note in Kia history.

As for the OP render, meh and meh. I don't expect an "electric Stinger."

I really like the design, the only thing is the rear is giving off major Volvo vibes.

The Stinger never ran its course...introduced in 17 it had two years then a massive downturn because of covid. No-one sold cars during covid. Couldn't get a new car during covid. The best market was.....probably Australia. The Stinger was introduced just as Ford and Holden closed their big car factories in 2017. Police had nothing to replace the Commodore V8 and Ford Falcon V8 and 4 states chose Stinger 330S as pursuit cars.
Like all petrol manufacturers Kia turned to electric. Late.
I didn't see any electric cars being produced by Kia before the EV6.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I don't know about your area but the dealer had plenty of Stingers for sale in my area during Covid back in 2020. They weren't giving them away but since they weren't selling a lot of cars due to inventory and whatnot they were heavily discounted. Plus Kia had their deals going at the time to get people to buy. Bought mine at a discount during that time.

Also, we just have to admit that we are in the minority now. Where I work, only me and 2 other people drive sedans. Most people in MN are driving CUVs, SUVs and pickup trucks. That's what is selling. Nobody wants a cool sedan much anymore. And if they do they're buying Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Subaru, Lexus, Acura. Most aren't looking at Kia, it's not even on the radar.
