When I ordered my Stinger last April, the hitch receiver and wiring harness were available from Draw-Tite. However, last August when it was getting closer to the original shipping date for my car, I discovered that they were no longer available. After some wondering what I was going to do I tried searching Google for the Draw-Tite part number N24974 (Receiver) and the Tekonsha part number 118780 - Wiring Harness.

At the time I found that Croft Trailer Supply from Kansas City, MO had the receiver in stock. I also found the wiring harness through etrailer.com from Wentzville, MO.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they have stock on those now, but maybe someone else has stock somewhere. Search for the Draw-Tite and Tekonsha part numbers. Maybe something will show up.

Finding a trailer hitch fab shop shouldn't be too hard to find to get the receiver done. As far as the electrical wiring goes, maybe one of the other harnesses for a different Kia vehicle could be adapted.

Welcome! Just letting you know that I moved this topic into the Stinger Exterior forum. I'm glad you found us! :)

You can make a road trip to Tempe, Arizona and leave your car with U-Haul for 4-5 days. They will fabricate a hitch for you at no cost to you and provide you with a lifetime warranty in exchange for it being the template for them to fabricate more for other owners. First come, first served!

I have a draw tite, it's not great, it knocks a bit on the exhaust and I haven't quite figured out how to stop it completely. I took months to get in stock.

I had that offer for u-haul in AZ when I was considering a Nissan years ago.

It's been a long while since I last logged on here, but I did finally get my Stinger in March and didn't get my Draw-Tite hitch installed until June. For the first while I too was getting a bit of a knock between the receiver and the exhaust on the left side of the car. It seems the receiver isn't quite centered, so there is a slightly smaller gap to the exhaust on the left vs. the right side of the car.

I toyed with the idea of slightly enlarging the mounting holes on the receiver components to allow shifting the hitch over to the right to even out the gap. In the end I just got some high temperature silicone gasket sheet material (allowable working temperature of 450 °F) and placed it around the end of hitch receiver frame adjacent to the exhaust pipe. No more noticeable knock when driving on uneven roads.

Kia Australia offer a towbar and wiring harness as a standard Kia Stinger accessory. Is this not available from Kia Canada?

If fitted by a Kia Dealer it attracts the same 7 year unlimited KM warranty here or remainder of car warranty period depending when it is fitted.

Of course you can get aftermarket but the Kia would have the electronics to suppress the rear radar, cross traffic and parking sensors when a trailer is fitted.

Correct, not available in Canada.

I think in Canada we have a law that the receiver has to be removable. If not in use it is illegal to drive with the receiver in place...that factory hitch looks to have a fixed receiver. Probably why it isnt available here.

The Australian Kia OEM is easily removable.

Wow....slick. I have no idea why it would be available here then.

Sorry, no I don't have any photos of it, and I don't have any plans to get under the back end of the car any time soon to take any pictures.

I will say that I cut the material 8" long by 3" wide, and punched 3 sets of holes at both ends to use 3 tie wraps to hold the gasket material in place.

Place the material between the end of the receiver where the bar is welded to connect to the mounts attached to the car and then wrap the ends back so the tie wraps hold it in place.

Hope that is clear enough for you.

I don't remember the company name, but there is a place in Europe that sells those hitches to those in North America. The hitch ball is 50 mm, not 1-7/8" or 2", but they also sell replacement fittings for the end of your trailer. As I recall, they had a towing capacity of 750 kg without trailer brakes and 1500 kg capacity with trailer brakes.

I haven't seen a Kia Stinger Towbar but I would expect the tongue is removable. They all are here. The photo seems to have a chrome stud extending upwards so I suggest the tongue slots in and thats an anti rattle bolt..

The G8 V8 I had was removable GM towbar. But I recall the USA owners saying no factory tow bar was available.

On the point of not being able to drive around with it on when not towing. Unbelievable. Most people here leave them on. It protects the car from touch parking for a start and slows those rear end collisions.

Maybe they are locally produced like the original Bi Modal exhaust was. I assume Australia ships those to Korea. Shipping towbars as parts would make no sense as it would double the price.

Anyway as much as I would love a towbar to throw my bike rack on, the auto tailgate lift and the three other ways to open it may seen the tailgate hit the bike rack so not recommended. And the fact that fascia is destroyed with a cut out....

Mine is hardly destroyed.

It looks the way it looks..

In the USA, someone has apparently gone to U-Haul in AZ and taken them up on the offer to get a free hitch if they stay a week to allow them to design it and then make it available for everyone else.

So, you can order it from U-Haul. It takes 8 weeks for it to arrive, and mine is being installed by my local U-Haul in June. Each one is made to order, I imagine because there isn’t much demand.
