sooooo about a day ago I noticed that I had to recline my seat forward because my cousin used my car the day before. once it came time for me to drive to work I noticed that my seat wouldn't go up. he is taller and likes his seat reclined back. I can def still use it but would like to know if there is an easy fix for this? everything else works on the seat except for it to recline forward you know?

I'm 22 man... I do dumb shit in my car.. especially in the back seats and I need a little extra room. my seat not relicing forward and having it reclined back has shown me that it is annoying and definitely needs to be fixed...

would this be for the memory seat thing? I don't have that in my car I believe. my switch just doesn't work to recline forward.

my problem was also not related to memory seat, but it would not move forward.
it was fixed after resetting the memory seat module.
give it a try.

if you don't have memory seats, i don't think the procedure will work since you don't have a "set" button... it sounds like either a failed switch or motor or short... does it recline more??

yeah, I don't have the set button on mine. what I ended up doing was holding the recline button forward for 10 seconds and then it worked for a couple of seconds. enough for me to adjust it to how I want it. besides the reclining forward everything else works just fine or like normal.

reclining forward makes me laugh!

Im having the same issue… Everything works fine but seat will not tilt forward. And the holding for 10 seconds is doing nothing.

For anyone searching this issue, I replaced the seat switch and it fixed the issue.
Same car same issues, did you do it yourself or payed installment ? How much did it cost ?

I just fixed this today. Passenger seat would recline, but not come back up. (This had been an intermittent issue for a few months, but jiggling the switch a couple of times would make it work. Eventually it just died.)

I tried ordering a new switch from a couple websites (GetOEM, CheapKiaParts) for about $100, but they all use the same supplier and the part is on backorder for several months.

So then I turned to eBay to see if they were any used switches for sale there. No luck.

Finally, I looked at online junkyards. I got lucky and found one who was selling the entire side panel with the switch attached (it came off a wrecked 2018) for $45. I emailed them and told them I only needed the switch. They told me it would still be $45, but they would cut the S&H to $15.

I received the part a few days later.

The control knobs were easy to pop off the existing side panel. Honestly, the most difficult task was figuring out how to pop the side panel off the seat base to access the back side.

If I pulled too hard, it felt like the panel would break. And it was so space-limited, that it was impossible to see what was actually holding the 0anel on. Eventually I managed to pop the forward half of the panel off which gave me just enough room to pull it far enough away from the seat to unplug the seat switch and get a Phillips screwdriver behind to get the 4 screws holding the switch off.

Then I just replace the switch, secure it with the 4 screws, plug it in, pop the side panel back onto the base of the seat, and pop the 2 control knobs back on.

Just like new.
