Is the undercover showing signs of oil on it as well?
That looks fairly dry, it might be case of the mechanic that has been changing oil was not careful and splashed oil when the plug was removed...
I would be closely monitoring it during oil changes from now on. You might wanna take it for them to take a look so it is documented in case it is a main seal leak under the bell housing.

This is about the same way mine looked when the dealer was doing my oil changes. I cleaned it off and it hasn't came back after about 10 months.

The dealer was letting the oil splash from the oil pan up onto the engine/trans area and wasn't cleaning it off.

Ill check again in a few weeks. i did clean it off during my oil change and will monitor it.

if it is still leaking, is a main seal leak a "big job" type issue where warranty can cover it?

Huge job...the whole drivetrain needs to be dropped. there are a few threads about the main seal leak as well as the trans seal leaks, I think most case they replaced the transmission in the case of the trans seal leak but not the main seal. Im sure the main seal can be changed without dropping everything. Mine has some staining but not as bad as yours and my undercover has no stains so I know it isnt a leak. If its truly a leak it will show oil stains on your undercover directly under the bell housing where the stain is.

its got 36k miles on it

got curious and decided to check under there last night and found fresh oil around the area and did notice oil stain on the under cover

looks like oil and not trans fluid

yes that's the main seal. warranty, but get moving...on a 2019 you don't have a lot of time left for the 5 years of the main warranty

thats what i was afraid of.

now i have to look for a dealership that won't hassle me or mess with my car.

you think i should remove my engine mods before i take it in? neither of which directly affect the main seal since it sounds like a manufacture defect.

Take off all the mods or they will blame anything so that they won’t warranty your car. Your call.

shucks.

Any suggestions on which kia dealerships in the bay area have good reputation with hassle free service?

Looks bad. Rear main seal is a major job.

I would remove any mods in the engine bay. intakes, OCC, JB4, etc. they can't blame that on suspension, wheels, or exhaust (i'd be a little uncomfortable about going in there with downpipes, but from your sig you don't have those.)

I hate it for you. I know the feeling. Been there done that, except mine was the transmission leaking. Best of luck finding a competent service dept. that has done this job before.
