I brought my stinger to the dealership yesterday morning at 8am to have them service a OBD II P0597 (thermostat error code). They called me at 5pm telling me that the car threw a new code after fixing the thermostat issue (which they told me took 8 hours). The code was P0045. There really isn't a lot of info in this forum on this code. Does anyone know if they would need to unplug anything to service the thermostat? I'm worried they are going to tell me that my intakes and exhaust has caused this problem and not under warranty. I'm also unclear how this code surfaced as it wasn't showing up before their service.

Also, my kia app shows the thermostat code and not the turbo one so I am wondering if they just made this up to by more time to finish the thermostat since its probably the first one they have ever done.

Any advice is appreciated.

I would guess they forgot to hook something back up or damaged a vacuum line.

The thermostat is not particularly easy to get to, so lots of stuff would have been unplugged.

I would not expect the app to live update. It's just showing what it knew from yesterday. It doesn't talk to the car - it just talks to the kia servers. And the car phones home whenever it feels like it.

Interesting on the app. It did take a day for the thermostat code to show up.

With respect to leaving things unplugged or damaging things while working on it, that was my biggest concern, meaning that they would have to do the whole job over again to double check every point.

They should.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...

I'm surprised they even told you. Shit happens. As long as they get it fixed and warranty the work then it's no big deal. They should be able to quickly chase down what's really going on. I expect there's a more detailed Kia-proprietary code that provides more details.

They called and said they accidentally spilled coolant on the waste gate connector which short circuited it. Part will be overnighted. Day 3 of thermostat replacement tomorrow. I feel bad for the techs in that they don’t have the training or experience to deliver what is expected.
